Well ND does honor their offers and at this time, they may not believe they can offer him given where they stand with other recruits and positions. ND isn't in the habit of offering and pulling the offer when a better talent comes along.

This reminds me of NBA & NFL free agency or when a player is released. Fans automatically start thinking their team should be be signing that player asap.

Brian Cushing :)

Can’t wait to see what he looks like at 50 years old. He may or may not have taken truck loads of steroids in college and in the pros. My roommate in college played for the same high school football team as Cushing

Cushing was the most obviously roided football player I've ever seen. It wasn't just his insane build that he got in a year, his entire personality screamed "roid rage"

The Pack busted with a top 5 pick, leaving Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas, and Deion Sanders all on the board.

Packer fan posting Bears 1st Round Picks of the last 50 years in 3...2...1

Still, that's gnarl.

I wondered why I had never heard of him, looked him up and now I know why.

Mandarich was a beast at MSU. Sure thing as there ever was until he played pro. He attempted a comeback with the Colts but was let go fairly quickly. He's 1st team in the HoF of NFL busts along with Brian Bosworth, Jamarcus Russel and Ryan Leaf.

I bet Whiskey uses him as his photographer...

His studio's a couple of blocks from the crib. I see him out every so often. Funny thing, as a former college G-F, I'm bigger than him now.

I think he played fairly well for you guys until an injury ended his career. Started for a couple of years at least and that was after he was out of football for 3-4 years.

This. I think he moved from T to G, but regardless, did pretty well. Not in the same stratosphere as guys like Leaf and Russell. Injuries (surely roid related) are one of the biggest factors in what led to him being labeled a bust. I'd put Mandarich more in the Steve Emtman/Greg Oden grouping of busts. Probably the Boz too. Also, he may have been a hold out? I can't remember though. If so, he may have Heath Shulered himself with that decision.

Yeah I just looked up Mandarich's bio. He played 7 seasons and started 63 games out of 86. Started the last 26 games straight for the Colts.

Think he had a big substance abuse problem too. Think he corrected that before joining the colts.

Boz was like that too, had a couple of decent to good years and then had his injury to his shoulder(s) I think it was end his playing career. Had he stayed healthy he prob would have had a decent career.

Just read an article on him. I stand corrected, he played three years for the Colts. Ten games his last year, but it doesn't say why only ten games. According to the article he had a big substance abuse problem while with the Packers.

When I look at guys I consider busts, to me it doesn't matter if it was due to injury or poor play. Not that they can control getting hurt, but if they can't play and don't match the hype and draft status coming into the league I consider them a bust.

Now after sounding somewhat callous, it was nice to read that he's very happy doing photography and has come to peace with his past. Does some motivational speaking warning of the perils of drugs.

Mandarich got sick from drinking water from a river on a hunting trip during his prime. He was sick for about 6 months and lost like 50 pounds.

Offer / Commit watch.

Is it an OV? Not sure it matters. Driving up with Derek Hamilton, one of ND's best recruiters.

In that matchup with Marist, Bertrand will take on Notre Dame’s top-ranked Notre Dame commitment Kyle Hamilton, a long-time friend of his. In fact, Bertrand and his camp will travel to South Bend for his visit with Hamilton and his family on the second weekend of November.

Think the staff is aware of a possible transfer from the LB group? I find it curious that they'd take another LB otherwise
