Not too surprising

Not at all.

They will have a small class at CB. Probably just him and former ND target, Dominique Hampton. UDub does a great job recruiting and coaching up DB's without having to bang heads with SC and Oregon on every 5* kid west of the Mississippi. Pete K and Jimmy Lake are as good as it gets.

They are my official back up team.

According to our Canadian friend we are very, very much in the running for Gordon. Loved his visit and loved the coaching staff. Likely between us and UDub. UDub though has two very young starters at corner so that could help us.

With Byron Murphy out for the season, their starters aren't young... the problem for Gordon at UDub is their depth... and that is loaded with Fr and So's.

Some CB(s) in the '18 ND class is going to get lots of clock from a thin depth chart. You can go to UDub and sit for a while even if you are developing on schedule.

UDub feels like this is done. Pete K and Jimmy Lake were definitely DBU in 2016.

UDub is getting nervous. As you know our Canadian friend lives very close to Washington and has two very good sources close to Gordon and he even believes based on what they've told him ND leads.

Update: Burton told our Canadian friend today that he hasn't visited a place yet that he loves as much as ND. Still waiting on academics though.

would be surprised if he wasnt in this class was the quote i believe...

Weird response. Whatever.

if you dont see the similarities in the response, the giant IF, then i cant help you.

There are thousands of kids who would love to go to ND, who have ND as their favorite and cant get in, every year, not just football.

So it's great Burton has ND on top of his wish list, but doesnt do the program any good if he cant get accepted.

Listened to the new II recruiting podcast. He says it is a ND-UW battle, and we currently lead according to his sources.

Strikes me as a surprise, but man he'd be a huge get given the CB need.

Small clarification, but he said he spoke to a few sources that said it really is a ND/Washington battle, and one even thought ND might be the leader.

Not all his sources are saying ND leads, just one of them did.

He actually has two sources. One calls it even, one says ND leads.

Todd Lyght saw him play this past Friday. Gordon says he and his family are discussing making a return visit to ND which would be on their own dime. Says he's feeling pretty good about ND right now.

Here's the freebie Gordon story from 247:

I can tell you one thing I know for sure after this weekend: Washington fully expects to have Gordon and Irvin in this class. Thankfully they lost here in AZ while ND was watching both play on Friday night. Washington's big guns will be at Irvin's game vs. Orange Lutheran this Friday. I'm sure someone will make an appearance at Gordon's game... I'm sure someone on the staff is at every game when a half an hour from campus.

Two things I like about our chances with Irvin. One he truly is serious about his academics going forward. It's not just talk. Two his dad and Todd Lyght, both former Ram CB's, seem to have developed a really good relationship. On Gordon he just really strikes me as a great ND fit. The kind of kid who would have no problem leaving home for college if it he thinks the school is a better fit for him than the home school.

This is the big chip in the secondary for me. Real deal cornerback ability.

Yeah, an excellent CB recruit makes all your other CB recruits more valuable, because now they can cover the other team's second or third receivers...
