What concerns me is the only thing I saw on film was him playing offense and safety zero tape of him playing corner which is what we are recruiting him for?

Notre Dame isn’t a top 10 or even 20 secondary school consistently. We are not in the position to turn a guy like Kyler Gordon away. If this dude wants in he absolutely needs to be a part of this class. From a numbers and depth standpoint he might not be needed in year one but he’s a very impressive talent.

Unless I missed it, I don't think anyone is advocating that. The staff will save a spot for him until NSD and have someone like a DJ Brown or someone we aren't talking about ready to sign later in the day on NSD if Gordon goes to UDub.

If Gordon was turned away it would be a result of ND winning the CB lottery out of nowhere and running out of scholarships. Theoretically possible in a Manti Te'o sorta way but that already happened once and no one wins the Powerball twice.

That used to concern me too but a good college CB prospect can impact the game at FS against HS competition more than at one CB spot. You put the average HS CB's over the receivers and let the P5 CB make plays while watching the entire field from the FS spot.

Apparently, Washington is doing some heavy neg recruiting here and it's not sitting well with everyone in Kyler's family/immediate circle. We'll see if it works with their visit this week. Jimmy Lake is all about the trashing ND, apparently.

Not sitting well as in he's having second thoughts about ND or he's unimpressed that UW is neg recruiting?

All will be forgiven according to Ol' Crus after we back up the Brinks truck to steal Jimmy.

The neg recruiting Washington is doing is turning off some around Kyler, to Washington. They don't like that approach. With that said, they haven't shut down UW yet so we'll see it eventually does work.

Oh the irony would be so sweet. Lake is polluting the waters with neg crootin, but that in turn pushes Gordon to ND. I admire families and recruits that see though the sewage and doesn't let it impact their decision.

My thought as well... I've been watching UW for a couple years thinking I'd love to have him on our staff... sucks.

If this staff closes with Gordon, Griffith, and Wilkins Jr., I'll tip my hat to the staff and eat crow for freaking out about CB recruiting.

This staff needed 4 CBs, or 3 legit CBs that have a very high chance of being players. Griffith and Gordon you can bank on about as much as you can any high school prospect, and I think Wilkins Jr. is special.

So this finish would qualify for my 3 legit CBs, and deserve a round of applause.

Same. I remember grumbling about not locking down Donald Johnson, and now it looks like we're on route for a monster CB haul.

I feel like I've gotten enough glimpses behind the scenes at this point to know that there is almost always a good reason we are not recruiting some incredibly obvious canidate like DJ. It's usually grades, sometimes fit.

I think at the time of ND passing, it was said that he'd never see the field for the Irish

This time of year...I'm so scarred from/by year's past I can't get excited until the day after signing day. I hope you are right!

Apparently there has been quite the behind the scenes changes in the last couple of days. The Boykin/Bracy situation is going to be an interesting one to hear/read.
