Lot of buzz about his LT, 6-7, 260 lb Andrew Kristofic from the class of '19 but his Dad played OL at Pitt... though he's an educator so maybe he'd be reasonable.

We are getting Olmstead and Carroll as tackles in 19 class. :)

They're in great shape with them. They've been #1a and #1b on my board since last winter.

ND will need at least one more next year, maybe two if HH goes light this year because of the slim pickins.

Interesting side note to Phil's game last night...

Aidan Cain from Mt Lebanon was mentioned as having "an Absurd" amount of receptions during the game in a tweet above. It ended up being a state record 25. 25 receptions for 336 yards.

He had 11 receptions for 235 yds last week.

36 rec for 571 yds is good season... or a career for most. He did it in 8 days.

Best part of the story is he lost his soph and jr seasons to torn ACL's. Now that's bouncing back.

Pitt message boards are going crazy today about Cain who Panther fans affectionately call:

"The Gehrig Dieter of PA".

I've been around a while and I might end up more excited about this guy than any Irish QB ever.

I would love to have seen Beano talk about Phil and the fact that Phil and RP3 could be on the same team would have made Beano's head explode on live tv..

Phil had a meh night by his standards in a 43-6 victory over the #4 team in WPIAL, Penn Hills. He was 16/25 for 175 yards w/ 1 TD - 1 Int. Added 41 yards & 1 TD on 7 carries.

Interesting thing I found out tonight: The Steelers Artie Burns' little bother plays CB w/ Jurkovec. Thomas Burns is a 3* that transferred up from Miami Northwestern. He de-committed from U Miami and has offers from Illinois and Purdue also.

Big time track athlete too.

See, there's CB's everywhere you look. They'll score some good ones this cycle... right? I mean, right!

Phil playing X-Box on the formerly undefeated #14 ranked team in PA. Doesn't look like he played much in the second half... either that or the DC of Bethel Park made the greatest halftime adjustments in the history of football.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Halftime Stats for Jurkovec <br>19 of 23 355 yards 2 TDs <br>8 rushes 33 yards 2 TDs<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/JurkovecShow?src=hash">#JurkovecShow</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/WPAFootball">@WPAFootball</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/JeffFisherMedia">@JeffFisherMedia</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WPIAL?src=hash">#WPIAL</a></p>— WPIAL Football Zone (@AJWPIAL) <a href="https://twitter.com/AJWPIAL/status/911397253486694401">September 23, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

At this point don't think so - he wants to play his senior year of basketball

I'd talk him directly out of that. He needs to concentrate on his future career not his hobby.

Signed,

Pine-Richland demolished Pittsburgh Central Catholic last night. Phil didn't play in the second half of the game. He was 10-13 for 141 yards and a touchdown.

QBs ranked ahead of him would've thrown 15 completions in 14 attempts and accrued at least 700 yds though

If I heard right it was 49-7 at half vs. last year's state runner-up (though admittedly, Central seems to have lost some guys... wonder where they went). I heard Phil was deadly running the ball in addition to 166 pass yrds in the 1st half.

That was last weeks game. They were only up 47-3 vs Central. Yes Central lost some players, (see ND's roster for details) but they were still an overall Top 10 team per MaxPreps in PA.

Last night's game was vs Peters Twp who were 5-1 and rated in the Top 40 overall by MP.

Almost identical results. Phil is easily the most impressive HS football player in the country this season. More on that in a few minutes...

He should be a 5* on all services. He does it all, puts up crazy #s against decent competition, and has the prototypical size.

This got me thinking since Justin Fields has been all over the news with his commitment to UGA. How does Phil stack up to the #1 player in the land? What about the #2 overall player, Trevor Lawrence?

Rushing:

Phil ..... 6 G ..... 39 car ..... 312 yd ..... 8.0 ypc ..... 12 TD (last night's rush stats not available)

Fields .. 5 G ..... 76 car ..... 575 yd ..... 7.6 ypc ..... 10 TD ( last night's rush stats not available)

Lawrence . 5 G . 16 car ..... 78 yd ...... 4.7 ypc ...... 1 TD

Passing:

Phil ..... 7 G ..... 114-149 ..... 1875 yd ..... 77% Comp % ..... 16 TD ..... 3 INT

Fields .. 6 G ..... 74-116 ....... 1239 yd ..... 64% Comp % ..... 17 TD ..... 1 INT

Lawrence . 5 G . 75-105 ....... 1538 yd ..... 71% Comp % ..... 15 TD ..... 1 INT

Couple of things to note: Phil is getting cut off at halftime every week because the average score at half is 45-5. Even game one against a Top 50 nationally ranked Huber Hgts Wayne HS, he got pulled when it got out of hand on ESPN. Fields has played the entire game at least 3 times with his two loses and a third close score. Lawrence has had only one close score so I don't know.

If Phil continues at a 77% completion clip, he would be the most accurate major QB I've ever seen stats on. Remember when BW just missed the national record at 76%? Regardless if he stays at 77% or not, it's not bad for a guy who will have to have his delivery reconstructed and struggles in 7v7 as confirmed by writers whose athletic careers consisted of washing jocks straps, getting cut from the golf team and writing up a 250 word game summary for the school newspaper.

Lastly, Phil has played the best of the WPIAL this season and according to Maxpreps, has played a tougher overall schedule than either Fields or Lawrence. Now if you believe that's impossible because GA football is way better than WPA football, well that's another story.

I wouldn't trade Phil for any player at any position in the 2018 class. Period.

That last sentence is what is most important. ND has to recruit the best possible players, that are fits for the University. Phil is just that. He'll be a special player during his time at ND. Only other thing I'd add is, he is clearly becoming a different player as he's physically maturing. More explosive in just about every facet of his game.
