In honor of To Pimp a Butterfly dropping I feel like we need a thread devoted to music not from the 60s.

Sorry I don't listen to bruno Mars and taylor swift bruh. Have fun listening to shit from 50 years ago.

I didn't realize that the only music made in the last 50 years was hip hop or garbage. Weird.

Damn dew.... Keep that rap game strong, B. It ain't easy being a gangsta these dayz.

Lol yeah all rap has to do with Gangs and shit like that. Sorry for having a taste in music that's held by the majority of college aged guys now a days. ill listen to country from now on man since they are all white right? Sounding like a out of touch dad.

I'm just saying, there is nothing sadder than a suburban white kid that refers to himself as a "hip hop head". You ball so hard.

I don't have anything against the music itself, per se.

Ouch I got called sad by some middle aged dude over the internet. I think I'll live. U don't like the genre than the music suggestions thread is always available to listen to Bob Dylan and some shit like that with dshans.

Why is that so sad?

A white kid isn't allowed to like hip hop that much?

I grew up on hip hop, tribe, dialated peoples, PAC, stuff like that... In college I got into blues and stuff and haven't looked back, once your musical pallet adjusts to actual music that isn't electronic and real singing and such it's hard to go back,...hip hop beats are so generic in sound when compared... I kind of view it as boy band music with a hard image,... The real substance is limited musically.

With that said, if someone plays Midnight Marauders, Southernplayalisticcaddillacmuzac, All Eyes on Me, Ready to Die... stuff like that, then I can still enjoy it...

First of all, i'm not "middle aged". Second of all, you are pathetically naive if you think that hip hop is the only good music being made these days. Hip Hop is the easy pick for dorky suburban frat bros that don't care about actual music. Just sick rhymes... bruh...

Next you will be telling us all about how dub step is your spirit animal or some shit.

Damn tough crowd today....to be honest i do like the colab kendrick/j cole cd....the reason i typically will like a rap song is if the beat or flow gets me bobbing..really the only time im listening to music is when im at the gym or at work otherwise when driving i have sports radio( have 4 kids and don't want them hearing curse words)

meek mill, ross, jay, beastie boys, wiz---these are what i mostly listen too

I don't know how I missed this. I guess I should've known a new album was coming after "I" was released.

I enjoy Kendrick thoroughly, though I discovered him in the completely mainstream way (no hipster story here) after his verse on "Control" blew up.

I retroactively discovered/loved "good kid, m.A.A.d city," as well as some of his stuff before that.

I thrive on Kendrick Spotify.
