Looking real good thus far. Likes to take chances down field and trusts his WRs to win 50/50 balls.
Dude is a baller
Awkward throwing motion as we know, but MAN OH MAN, does this kid look the part!!.... great arm, great athlete and looks to be a great leader!
**Ankther TD, this time through the air after buying himself some time
So is Wayne just bad?

For fun, I went back and looked at 247's QB rankings from 2014 the last time ND signed a tall QB with decent athleticism who didn't look good in camps. Here are the pro style QBs they ranked ahead of Kizer.
1. Kyle Allen. Was mediocre, then transferred.
2. Keller Chryst. Total garbage.
3. David Cornwell. Lol. Was so obviously overrated as a prospect that being from NORMAN-FREAKING-OKLAHOMA he wasn't recruited by the Sooners. 247 rated him a 96. He sucked at Bama and is now at Nevada.
4. Will Grier. Transferred to WVU from Florida, has done nothing.
5. Clayton Thorson. Still at Northwestern, multi-year starter, nothing special. Borderline draft prospect as a senior.
6. Sean White. Been sucking it up at Auburn.
7. Jacob Park. Sucked at Georgia, transferred to Iowa.
8. Brad Kaaya. First player to do anything of note, 6th round pick in NFL draft.
9. Drew Barker. Has done basically nothing at Kentucky.
10. DeShone Kizer. #52 pick in NFL draft.
So of their 9 highly touted QBs above Kizer you have 4 transfers, 3 scrubs, 1 mediocre starter at Northwestern, and 1 6th round pick. Trust the Yalie's QB evaluations at your own peril.
Will Grier was suspended at Florida for performance enhancing drugs right? I thought he looked really good when he played for the Gators before his suspension.
Wimbush better leave for the NFL after this year because Jurkovec will win the Heisman next year!
"He's by far the best we've gone against ever," said Wayne coach Jay Minton, a 36-year coaching veteran who's led Wayne for 20 seasons.
"We had a pretty good one in (former Ohio State star) Braxton Miller," Minton added, "but I'll tell you what, some of the things that kid (Jurkovec) can do, he just wows you."
Jurkovec completed 14 of 20 attempts for 250 yards with touchdown throws of 28, 27 and 24 yards to three different receivers. He had 107 rushing yards on just seven carries and scored from 65, 21 and two yards away.
Hope his performances continue on this pace and he comes to ND with lots of hype.
Perhaps the greatest weekend of the year for high school football is complete. Many match-ups featuring several of the nation’s elite recruits were televised. In particular, it was a great opportunity view a few of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 class.
The Gunslingers
The ultimate gunslinger in the 2018 class certainly looked to be Clemson five-star commit Trevor Lawrence. The Cartersville (Ga.) product took several chances down the field relying on his rocket arm to fit passes into tight coverage. It worked as Lawrence completed 18 of 22 passes for 403 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-45 victory over Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Lawrence’s play was his ability to still be deadly accurate when flushed from the pocket and throwing on the run. The 6-foot-6, 208-pound Lawrence is athletic enough to extend plays, but the playmaker consistently keeps his eyes downfield looking to hit the home run.
Playing a very similar style was Florida quarterback commit Matt Corral. The Long Beach (Calif.) Poly standout was under duress more often than Lawrence, but that did not stop him from making plays down the field, either. Corral finished 20 of 30 passing for 376 yards and two touchdowns against Los Alamitos (Calif.).
What stood out with Corral was his quickness avoiding the rush. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder would face pressure and dart free from defenders. Corral, much like Lawrence, was looking to make the big play with his arm down the field when flushed from the pocket.
Stock Up
We knew Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson had a very live arm from the various camps and 7on7 competitions he has attended the past two years. We also knew he was a good athlete based on his play as a wide receiver last fall as he backed up current Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell.
However, the questions about Thompson-Robinson still lingered due to the fact he never started a game at quarterback in high school. Those were answered after completing 19 of 23 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns Friday in his first start as signal caller. Thompson-Robinson also added two rushing scores.
Thompson-Robinson is a dynamic runner for a quarterback. That is certainly a weapon that needs to be utilized with Thompson-Robinson behind the center. Nonetheless, the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is still a polished passer despite the limited in-game reps. His showing in a 35-23 win over Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha has his stock rising.
Too Easy
Top247 quarterback Tanner McKee makes it look easy when running Corona (Calif.) Centennial’s up-tempo offense. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder is not as flashy as other signal callers in the 2018 class, but he's one of the most efficient on the field.
McKee completed 12 of 17 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns in a 63-21 win over Pittsburg (Calif.). The timing that McKee displayed, how quickly he got the ball out, and his accuracy were all noteworthy.
The California native will face a tough test this Friday when he takes on a stellar Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy defense. McKee is looking for retribution after he completed 26 of 44 passes for 374 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions a year ago in a 50-49 loss to the powerhouse out of the Sunshine State.
Big Athletes
Notre Dame commit Phil Jurkovec measures in at 6-foot-5, 200-pounds, but the Gibsonia (Penn.) Pine-Richland product showed he’s an plus athlete at that size during his game on Sunday. Jurkovec ripped off an impressive 64-yard touchdown run that included a nasty stiff arm before sprinting down the sideline. Later in the first half, Jurkovec scrambled for another rushing touchdown from 21 yards out.
In addition to that running ability, Jurkovec also showed he has the arm talent to make be effective throwing the ball as well. He brings a unique dual-threat ability to the field.
Another big, athletic runner is Auburn quarterback commit Joey Gatewood. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Gatewood can be a load to bring down at times, shown by running for 129 yards yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries Saturday night in part-time duty against Cartersville (Ga.). While the Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail product is not a polished passer, he still completed 12 of 16 throws for 183 yards and a touchdown.
Other Notes …
— The No. 1 overall player in the 247Sports Composite, Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison quarterback Justin Fields, faced Power 5 defensive line on Friday with two current SEC commits and four-star edge-rusher Adam Anderson. While the 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect was harassed the entire night, he still flashed elite ability in front of the 247Sports team that was on the sidelines for the contest.
— It was a pedestrian performance for Ohio State quarterback commit Emory Jones as he only completed seven of 11 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown, while rushing 12 times for 47 yards. However, it should be noted that Jones fired a strike on third and long late in the game that should have gone for a go-ahead 16 yard touchdown, but the receiver dropped the pass. Jones also saw time at safety late in the game where he delivered two big hits during crunch time.
From last week. Phil's #1 of course but listen to the announcer.
