The dude completely lays out a poor 120lb LB then dives forward with the momentum he barely has just to possibly knock off any defenders balance off that is in the way.

Want.

Could have had him. He wanted to come to ND and play LB but had to settle for BC like so many others.

The more I think about it, the more Cathedral needs to be kicked out of the ISHAA. They definitely have ZERO business being in 5A.

Of course, this is coming from a guy who's HS is a 5A sectional winner. lol

They only play 2 in state teams on a 9 game season. They are the football version of La Lumiere basketball who thankfully isn't in the ISHAA.

and they lost a lot of those games. By enrollment, both Cathedral and Roncalli should be in 4A. The fact Cathedral is playing up a class (they may be tagged to move up again) doesn't bother me. Roncalli just got bumped up due to their success on the field last year as well.

St John Bosco (CA) has 600 students, if they were in Indy would you want them in 2A?

Cathedral is a recruiter school that wants to barnstorm the Midwest playing other Catholic powers and public school heavies. That's fine. Just kick them out of the IHSAA and treat them like La Lumiere. If you want to let them in the playoffs, they should be in the 6A class forever and exempt from the class realignment per performance.

Indiana HS football already has a problem with the 6A mega schools from the MIC and Penn being 2x the size as the schools they put in the class to fill it out. The state needs a 7A class for the MIC, Penn, Cathedral and the upcoming Elkhart consolidation.

And usually one of the top teams in the state in their class before and after Gunner. I was surprised they put that kind of a whooping on Cathedral.

Yeah... my boys from City probably avoided a handling this Friday in the state championship game but just like the debate with ND playing in a NY6 vs the playoffs... I'd rather have taken a beating in the championship game vs a 1 score loss in the semis. You gotta be in it to win it.

My mom’s whole side of the family is from Columbus and graduated from East. My cousin won a state title with the 2013 team and my uncle graduated in ‘78, the year before Blair led the O’s to their first title. I’ve always loved Columbus. Great town. Great people.

When I was there, we had a crap coach living back in the glory days of 79 when East won its first state championship. Guy ran the veer offense and never changed his gameplan in years. Did not believe in weight training at all. Myself and a handful of guys were the only ones that lifted year around (91 grad). When we would play teams like Floyd Central (Floyd Knobs, IN) who lived in the weight room we would get handled. The guy should have retired years ago and when he finally did, they got the guy they have now which turned the team into a winner.

East needs to get out of the Hillbilly Athletic Conf and join the big boy conference with North. Same for BNL. Add any school 1500+ in the South of Indy - Columbus - Bloomington triangle like Martinsville & Franklin too.

The thing is, they tried. They got denied by the Mid-State (Martinsville, Mooresville, Whiteland, Roncalli, etc). They don't want CI because 1) The school corporation likes having both schools in separate conferences and 2) East sort of views CI as fragile, what with the upheaval they've had with teams leaving over the past few years. And, Columbus to Terre Haute (who joined a couple years ago) is an absolute haul with no good way to get there.

The other thing is, East's other sports are competitive in the HHC. They aren't world beaters in anything but football. If anything, it might make more sense for them to try and go independent in football and stay in the conference in the remaining sports. Furthermore, there's been talk of Jennings County and Madison leaving the conference for a small-school league. If that happens, it may force East's hand to try and join CI, but that isn't their first choice.

Having the TH schools in your conference is such a positive academically. It ensures every year your players will see ISU and teh reality of what lies ahead for them if they don't maintain a 2.0 and get rejected by Ball St.

As an ISU alum (undergrad), that stings, lol.
