IDK if this happens. But if it does, on one hand, great.

On the other hand, how sad is it that the jewel of our class made it here only because he wasn't good enough to make OSU's. That's insane.

Also isn't Derrik Allen the jewel of the class so far with Jayson close behind? Griffith would sure be up there, but I thought Allen > Griffith

Thank you ZV.

Not only is he the jewel of ND's DB class, he's probably the jewel of their defensive class unless Jay Ade unseats him down the road. He'd be the jewel of most ND classes as far as that goes, he's just in the same class as the prototype QB for ND's system. DA is criminally underrated because he's a safety now. He used to be a top CB prospect when he was corner sized. He has an unmatched skill set in a DB in this class. I wouldn't trade him for ANY DB in this class because no CB or S brings as much to the table and ND needs every box checked.

Agree Allen is the crown jewel of the class. I expect to see him playing in nickle or dime situations in 2018...hopefully for the Irish.

I got your back, Crus. I know that some of the excitement has faded from Allen, but that guy is still a monster recruit.

Allen, Jurko, Ade are the jewels of this class. We can expect to see more if the wins come this fall

He will play as a TF. The question is where and if he keeps growing where does he land? SS? Rover? everyone has Simon penciled in at Rover... Is he a Rover at 235 or does he move to Buck. We've already forgotten about JOK who had the best tape of any ND defensive recruit. He's gonna play and JGH is right there next to him. The Rover/Safeties spots will be absolute positions of strength in years to come with these guys, Gilman and Moala. And is Polian ever gonna have fun with them in coverage units until they move to the top of the depth chart.

I think it's obvious where he wants to go. Now, will they have room is another question. However, Urbie did tell him they want him.

I'm beginning to think Urbie pulls a Bill Cosby when he gets a kid on campus. Slips a little something in the Gatorade, then gets them to commit.

Knew it. He went with DEFENSIVEBACK (can a brother get a space?) once and for all proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that he expects to transition from CB to S.

I mean clearly he's high on ND and OSU and I thought Nebraska was the third team as of a couple months ago. Then again maybe not because he's not from California

Oh well... Wiltfong and Ramos started it too.

It's 99.9% likely gonna happen.

He gone.

I hate to be THAT guy BUT I think he's gonna be a S and as long as Derrik Allen is in this class with last years haul and Aloha Gilligan transferring in and Moala a shoe in... Griffith's a luxury. Now if he's a 2 year starting CB at a Tier 1 school like FSU during his JR/Sr years, ND lost out. I'll bet the house he doesn't stick at CB though. Every time I see a picture of his Dad, I feel more sure of that.

Been saying from the beginning that he would end up at a football factory.

Not only is FSU trending but Wiltfong doesn't even mention ND as a player in his write up from today's 7v7 tourney at IMG.. Something already happened between ND and Griffith.

Boom Football defensive back Houston Griffith picked off three passes, shining on the outside and playing nickel. He was physical at the line of scrimmage, he played the deep ball well and he was brash all afternoon. Florida State is now trending on the 247Sports Crystal Ball with Ohio State, Nebraska and Penn State among the other contenders.

And.........it's June. With not one OV taking place at the moment. Not sure we need to be throwing in the towel.

Not really what I'm saying bro. I just know we like to get off to hot starts and everyone always says "this is the class" "class is elite" "this class could be the 2013 class" While I have liked the classes we have brought in lately it's lacking star power and difference makers right from the get go. I really like this class and the direction it seems to be taking but it's still missing star power like others in order to compete for playoffs or New Years sixs bowls. I know us being inconsistent and not winning football games isn't really helping us. But going off 4-8 season I don't think anyone can really bitch about the way this class is right now seeing how is brand new staff and when you have turnover like we did a lot of teams capitalize early because there is a buzz in the room and ND did a hell of a job with that to start this class but IMO recruiting is kind of stuck right now and we've had a great start to the visit list and getting kids on campus early but I feel like we take a lead here and there and our lead fizzles and we aren't closing like we could! Need to win big this year and this class might be the most important class for ND in the time I've been alive. Recruiting has been good over the last four years but it hasn't been great and is lacking difference makers or "elite guys" in order to take this team to the next level. WE HAVE too win big this year and make some noise in order to get those kids. Losing out on Gervin at a HUGE position of need maybe the biggest on the roster and then losing Lenzy some say it's whatever but that was a big loss IMO and a guy with unreal speed that we don't really have on this team. I'm not really worried about player development because I actually think Kelly has done a good job with that since he's been at ND and has honestly turned some guys who had no business playing at this level the way they did or guys who everyone thought was just another guy and he got them to the NFL. Still think we need difference makers especially upfront and on the back end in order to make some noise nationally consistently and I think until we do that we are kind of just stuck in recruiting the way it is.

Because I have little doubt that Elko is gonna be great for ND but he needs to get some guys in here that can be difference makers and step on campus and are ready to roll. I know that's asking a lot out of true freshman but that playing time is so valuable later on in their second and third seasons. Because he might have the right scheme fit for ND but he still needs the players to make this thing go and look what he did at Wake and I get it worked at Wake but this is a different animal at ND and the competition he will face week in and week out will be a much bigger challenge for him. Sorry for my rant I kind of just kept on typing and couldn't stop punching keys.

Basically if you don't want to read what I wrote I'm basically saying recruiting has been kind of neutral the last three seasons with some great gets here and there but it's time to take it to another level and get some difference makers and by doing that you need to win and ND HAS to win this year. Most important season in a long time. If not Big Game Bob will have to step in and take over. But at least BK won't be leaving the shelf empty for him. But hopefully we win enough this year and all the Kelly haters will have to put up with him for a couple more seasons.

Cheers boys, I love all ya'll baby I love all ya'll in my Mike Winchel voice

I agree, ND can only do so much here, if you don't want in see-ya...how's Aaron Lynch doing these days??

Can't fault the staff for this one. We've been recruiting this kid longer than all his other finalists. Went above and beyond to "roll out the red carpet" for him on multiple occasions. He just might not want what ND is, and the reality is, that is part of it. No matter what the staff does, in it's current state, some recruits will not be attracted to ND, and it doesn't all have to do with winning. Though winning will help.
