Not concerned really at all about not landing a CB in '17 anymore. Allen and Gervin are true freshman - competing for a starting spot kind of players.
I actually feel Gervin is underrated and not far from Allen.
This kid is the highest rated CB I can ever remember ND landing. Anyone know of one higher!
He's a five star composite.

Elko must be pretty legit behind the scenes or something. Holding onto a GA talent has been tough on us already, but I can't even imagine us not being taken seriously with this kind of class looming from our next big targets going forward.

Yeah man I think it's showing the difference having a reputable DC actively engaged in recruiting makes. I know before the ink was even dry on his contract he was talking with the recruiting office and Elston and watching film trying to suss who should be key targets. A lot of that kind of info about "effort" and "enthusiasm" has to be taken with a grain of salt when someone is just hired... but damn, good early returns!

What's great is that selling Notre Dame is "easy". It's a great product and if you put in the hard work, you will get good to great results. More often than not we've been outworked in the past. We'll kill it as long as this staff hits the recruiting trail hard.

Our signing day excellence I think along with the early big start is nice to see. I think all of this is momentum and I can't imagine what happens if ND ends up beating the Bulldogs in SEPT in terms of recruiting and program turnaround.

Not to diminish Elko's success, but reportedly he was no longer a take at Clemson (?!). He was already leaning towards us, but if true that made it from a 60-40 decision to a no-brainer.

Yeah, he emphasized that Elko wanting him as a DB as one of the major reasons he was sold on ND (one the free articles posted in this thread). Maybe he turns into a Taylor Mays sized Safety, wouldn't be too upset with that.

The old Vancouvenator is right also about him playing corner. He is skilled enough that he could play as corner at ND without a drop off. But he would be an all-Universe safety!

I have some news. The recruiting staff powered by its new genius defensive coaches will pull in several guys over the next few months that are freakishly large, athletic db's an receivers.

I am telling you there will be 6'2"-3"-4" guys that fly and have ball skills, such as McDonnald.
