Yes. His mom was with him for her first visit. They spent time with Harry, Chip Long, and BK. ND will get an official visit, currently planned for the Georgia game.

Oh good, he gets to double-dip with another team of interest.

We've never been burned by that before.*

Assuming we are going to have an uphill battle getting him, the Georgia game is perfect.

No one is going to try and talk him out of going to UGa at ND. Everyone will agree that's a great trip. And if we win he'll see ND stadium in full force and have a pretty easy come back when kids at school tell him SEC is superior. If it's close, maybe we'll plant a seed and the total package wins?

If he goes to, say, USC, ND might put on an amazing show, but it may ultimately seem a little random, like Texas. Vs. Oklahoma for a a kid from New Jersey. Temple, and everything is chill, he might walk away thinking ND is great, but doesn't compare to the SEC atmosphere. Even though SEC is pretty boring when Florida is playing FAU or someone.

Moreso than simply beating UGA, I hope they can show him how our offensive line coach is the best in the game. How if he comes here, he can be the next high first round pick in the NFL draft. I hope they can show him how he'll get a superior education and become a better man because of the unique experience Notre Dame offers.

Hoping a kid gets to see us beat a certain team with a great gameday experience is fools gold. The excitement quickly wears off and then they ultimately choose the school they're most comfortable with.

I think he's going to have a great time, and it's really going to exceed his expectations. And he's going to sign with Georgia or Clemson.

I'm not talking about the excitement. I don't think you win because of a great game day. But down South everyone is in lockstep that the SEC is the best football, has the best fans, the best stadiums, the best atmosphere.

I think you need to put a chink in that armor to even get to what you are talking about.

https://n.rivals.com/news/this-visit-to-notre-dame-was-different-for-five-star-ol-salyer

Did ND make a move? Or this just a click-bait headline where the visit this time was "different" because his parents were there, which we already knew?

Why is it a move?

What if since day one, Jamaree and HH have had the best relationship of any coach who is recruiting him? What if Jamaree has always preferred ND's elite, private school approach to athletics and education, a system he has flourished in during HS. What if Jamaree's number one mentor outside of his family is ND PWO Mick Asaaf's Dad who is the principal at Pace? What if Jamaree doesn't give 1 sh!t about academics but recognizes ND IS OL U and will officially be crowned such when McG and Q go in the first 2 rounds next draft... which will give them 6 in 5 years, the most in that period. What if all, some or just one of these factors have been in play from day 1 and ND is not trending one way or the other but in a static, solid 3 way race to NSD2?

Take UGA over the field.

While we obviously aren't the favorites here we do have a shot. Harry has been personally handling this one all along. If we pull an upset this is the kind of kid we do it with.

According to NDInsider Salyer's HC said ND really helped themselves on this visit. Mom was with him on this trip. I didn't know this but we have a walk on receiver from Pace Academy whose dad is Headmaster at Pace. Mick Assaf is the kid's name I think.

Sampson also noted Derrick Allen has known Salyer since both were young boys playing youth football. Allen's dad has been talking a lot to Salyer's mom about ND.

Can you imagine Salyer and Banks at OG's? that's 700lbs of road grading delight. Throw a skinny 315lb Robert Hainsey at OC and Coach Long might have to bring back the FB dive cuz there will be some blown up DL's in ND's future.

It'd be one heck of a battle between Banks, Hainsey, and True Freshman Salyer for Nelson's vacated LG spot in 2018, if he were to pick ND. Like you stated the loser most likely takes over for Bars at RG, the following year. It will be interesting to see where Hainsey fits in as he seemed to be technically advanced, I'm just not sure what his best spot is, very well could be our next C.

Think Hainsey is similar to the Martin brothers. You could plug him in at virtually any of the OL positions. Center could be a real possibility.

I'll bet the house Hainsey takes over for Mustipher.
