"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."
one of my favorite movies.
"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."
Mini-scoop here is that Austin will "most likely" sit out two games, but it could end up up being four https://247sports.com/college/notre-dame/Article/Counting-Down-The-Irish-Kevin-Austin-132992253/
Obviously if he's back for the Georgia game that'd be quite the boon.
Said Long of Austin in a late-Spring interview (Apr. 11):
“He’s working on it. He’s figuring it out. He will. He’ll get it done. I don’t want any game day tryouts. You’re going to do it in practice and do it consistently. If you do that, you’ll play a lot. He knows that and he’s working toward that.”
"I don’t want any game day tryouts. You’re going to do it in practice and do it consistently.".... I hate hearing quotes like that from coaches more than anything. Points to a serious attitude problem about doing what is necessary to compete at this level, to say nothing about doing what the coach wants done. Every time I hear something like that, I lower my expectations about a player to near zero.
Hope that gut feeling is 100% wrong.
I wonder how much his HS coaches let him slide simply because of his talent?
Let's hope he pulls a Chasepool and cleans it up (although I'm not sure if Chase was in the doghouse, this severely)
Any positive vibe is a good sign
There it is... the unspoken four-game “absence”

Ouch! Seems sort of strange since he sat 2 last year. So is this a 6 game thing overall?
Would have been nice to have him for UGA.

I had a suspicion it was only going to be two games since he sat two last year.
We don't know ND's rules on carrying punishment over between seasons, so it could be that his count resets, or maybe that Prister is wrong?
We'll see based on where he's at on the depth chart prior to the UGA game I guess lol.
I agree. ND gonna need all the help they can get for that one.
I can't see his punishment being reset. He had to have received a six game suspension.
While down in FL, I had on an ND t-shirt when we went to Chik Fil A. A UGA fan asked me how good I thought ND would be and if they could beat UGA. I told him I thought they would have a legitimate chance. He laughed. I hope we wn. I'll be tempted to go back down and remind the guy of our conversation. lol

Does it only apply to regular season? I’m pretty sure he received some tick vs Clemson. Kind of weird, but yeah maybe Prister doesn't know 100%. Good news is he is coming back and he has been working his butt off this offseason. Both positives for him and for ND...and for us fans lol!
