I think his point is that ND needs a WDE, not more undersized tweeners or SDE's (why they passed on Vann, probably).

Grab a true pass-rusher, and the DE chatter in general will all be moot.

In Chatfield, I see a quick-twitch terror who has a first step we've been sorely lacking since...Lynch? I think Chatfield has the strength as well but he plays loose and wild. Exactly what I want to see in a rush end.

OK, I did watch Chatfields tape. He is quick, has good strength, however, he IS reckless. Most of the plays that he made, were made at the snap of the ball. Great in HS, however, better college offenses can easily beat that with misdirection and better play calling. It can be corrected with coaching and teaching, but the same argument can be made for Vann.

ISD guys say they saw Vann at a Sound Body and Mind camp in Detroit last year and he split 4 reps against a DIII prospect offensive lineman who gave up a lot of weight to him. They reckon he's not take for ND ala Corey Malone Hatcher last year, a tweener who does not fight the defense.
