After/while(?) visiting ND. BOOM.

Is anyone else even in this? OSU? Northwestern? Clemson??

Cal and NW make up his final 3<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="und" dir="ltr"><a href="https://t.co/OPyvBjjFC2">pic.twitter.com/OPyvBjjFC2</a></p>— DJ Brown (@DeeJayyy___) <a href="https://twitter.com/DeeJayyy___/status/958406673676275712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 30, 2018</a></blockquote>

I think the writing is on the wall with this one, although I wouldn't mind if he canceled that OSU visit.

My guess is that that he cancels. I really like this pick up if we get him.

Would be a really nice addition. DB recruiting for the 18' cycle would have to get pretty high marks.

If OSU's truly out of it (even with the visit), this one can basically be wrapped up.

Can someone please tell me how excited I should be if we land Brown?

He was evidently at one point in time a 2* on Rivals and his top group includes Northwestern and Cal Berkeley.

He’s also an Under Armour All American and according to some sources had a committable offer to pOSU.

I want to get excited, but I can’t shake the feeling that he may just be a slightly better version of Ashton White.

A lot of people preferred Brown to Boykin (and some preferred both to Irving), but I think you should think of him as raising the odds that we get 2 CBs in this class that end up playing, rather than one.

Got offers late from ND, Clemson, and Ohio State. Lots of P5 offers. All-American. So that's all encouraging.

I have no clue though whether he's the kind of guy we should expect to be an impact player or depth or somewhere inbetween... I think he was literally the lowest recruit in the UA game? So strange.

Sounds like he looked fine at the all-star game, and he certainly has quick acceleration on his senior film.

IMO, he was arguably the most polished of the available CB's, at the time of offering. Which includes Gordon, Irvin, Boykin, etc. With that said, he also might be the least athletic of the group, which might limit his upside. I think he has a chance to be a starting CB on a competitive P5 defense. Just might not have the NFL upside. Which could end up being similar to Julian Love

As far as raw ability? Okay. But Love's swagger allows him to punch well above his weight.

LMAO. No he was not the lowest. First checkout the UA game roster and there are many non ST players lower rated than DJ. Second take a look at his updated rankings.

Rivals 3* 5.6 CB #67

247 3* 86 NATL. RK 699 CB RK 70

ESPN 4* 82 NATL. RK 225 CB RK 28

247 composite 3* 88 NATL. RK 487 CB RK 49

Clearly he is at worst a solid 3* who will contribute.

Good height and length. Smart instinctive player. Flashes good range and short-area burst. ...WEAKNESSES: Needs to continue to fill out frame. Average ball skills...BOTTOM LINE: Brown is a savvy corner that blends length, ability and smarts to make plays.

I agree with the comparison to Love. Accept DJ is bigger and balls skills not as good as Love.

Outside of Houston Griffith, DJ Brown would be the best corner in this 2018 class for Notre Dame.

So IMO everyone should be excited if he signs with Notre Dame.

I don't know what is "LMAO"... I was guessing that was the case given that he's an 88 composite and AAs are almost exclusively 4-star guys most years.

I just looked it up and he was not dead last with his updated rating but he was close. 7 guys rated lower than him in composite after his recent ratings bump. His 83.7 composite rating (shown on front page of his profile) from December was dead last.

Just going off the 247Composite:
OG Cam Goode VT
OC Jacob Isaia MCHST
OG Josh Jedderson N/A
SDE Caleb Okechukwu N/A
ATH Shaquon Anderson-Butts PENNST
OC Hank Manos USCEast
APB Justin Hall NILLINOIS

But your point is valid, he was one of the absolute lowest players in attendance. Especially if you remove project interior big-ugly's who are almost always lower star rated.

Yes. But if you singularly look at ESPN rankings he absolutely deserved to be in the game.

I would take Brown over Bracy and Wilkins every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

12 analysts today said Cal & Northwestern won't land DJ. Nobody disagreed with them.

Per ISD, Lyght and Terry Joseph will be at his school in the next hour, then an in-home later tonight.

NSD decision, but will make a private decision prior.

How does a three star hold out until NSD like they are a five star stud? What are the odds he will ever start?

Hopefully he pops for the staff on this visit, and takes the spot. At this point, it seems like Boykin just likes the attention.

People literally get drunk on "trusting the process."

Another way of saying it is, being indecisive and having your decisions ultimately made by other people who chose first.

Well, he turned down OSU and Clemson. He's a good player, and certainly has starter potential.

Very similar ranking profile to Julian Love. Who, as we all know, was extremely productive this year. Love per the composite was #480 overall and 48th CB. Brown is #487 overall and 49th CB.

Uhhhhhh if he didn't hold out as long as he did, ND and Ohio State and Clemson wouldn't even have been options for him. Explain to me what is wrong with someone taking their time?

That's applies to some, it sure as hell doesn't apply here.
