Some writers on that network crack me up sometimes. In what universe is Washington "close"to home... it's a 15+ hour drive, 2+ hour flight. There is no difference in terms of travel between ND and Washington except that you save an hour or so on your flight... you're not driving either one.

To put this into perspective, the distance from LA to Seattle (1135 mi) is roughly equal to the distance between South Bend and Houston (1144 mi).

I've made this argument before just using raw mileage but that's bending reality.

His situation is he lives within 10 miles of John Wayne in OC where they can fly directly into Washington in under 3 hrs for less than $200rt. Out the door and at Husky Stadium in 5 hrs.

There is no non stop to South Bend from John Wayne or LAX for that matter. There is no non stop to Midway from John Wayne either so you are forced to fly into OHare. Now you're 120 miles on the wrong side of Chicago to drive or you have to catch a connection into SBN. Door to stadium is 8 hours at best and a lot more money.

Now throw in the usual times PAC teams play vs when ND does and ND requires you to travel the day before where they can leave same day and catch most Husky games with ease.

Plus, the conference teams are easy to get to: San Jose, Oakland, SLC, Denver, Phoenix, Tucson. All easy flights. Drive to SC and UCLA games obviously. The Oregon teams require a 90 mile and 120 mile drive from Portland. Skip Wazzu.

It is obviously harder to get to Indiana than Washington.

That does not mean Washington is "close to home"... you are completely missing the forest for the trees.

You know where's even harder for Mom to get to from Anaheim than South Bend? State College, Pa.

Anyone else want to just forget this guy and get Noah Boykin and/or The Duke CB who decommitted?

Getting ecstatic about offers this time of the year when you already had a decision made, is the most Cali-kid thing ever.

Smell ya later.

I'm always about going public with a first come, first served declaration when seating is limited. Fill it up and get to work on 2019. I'd book DJ Brown and Taiyon Palmer flights during the week and get them out. This waiting for a weekend 3 weeks from now makes no sense. Take 2 days off of school and giter done.

I just took it as, "Wow, prestigious offer!"

I still hope we get him.

But I agree that I would not prioritize him above Boykin or the Duke kid. He may be better, it sounds like he's looking good, but I'd rather know I had those two then wait on Irvin.

Recruits are hilarious in terms of how they drag this stuff out, and how they think they are being wise. (Irvin is know different in that camp, I mean kids in general.)

Just pick a school!!!! You know all you are going to know about these schools. They could fire your position coach in February, right after you sign, or he could leave next year! You can't control that! Either team could have a total coaching overhaul next year!

Plus, your committing will it in recruiting by (1) creating momentum, and (2) allowing the coaches to focus on getting more good players instead of doing whatever it is they are doing with you.

Agree on all of it. Great player, but I really like the guys on the CB board and would rather get them, than wait and get none. With that said, that sounds like what the staff is preparing to do, to some degree. Wiltfong gave the "all in" io Palmer quote yesterday. Staff is going to make him a top target going forward. He spoke with Lea, Lyght, and Polian the day of the offer. So, it sounds like the staff is on the same page. Obviously, keep recruiting Irvin, but don't hold our breath.

It's the ego thing. Whether it's quietly subtle or verbose. They're BMOC in HS and like to make this all the much bigger than it really is. Of course having recruiting analysts calling only inflates it more.

I'm pretty much over Cali recruits. Year in and year out the time and effort put in by the staff is way more than the benefits reaped. We get the occasional Cali kid, but even then their performance doesn't always match their billing. I will be surprised if we land him.

From football scoop: USC corners coach Ronnie Bradford has interviewed with the Jets, per a tweet from Inside USC.

Maybe something did happen with his family I have no idea but the people/ mods who were basically telling everyone to chill out and that something happend with his mother has stopped coming to his defense. Biggins said something happend with his mother so I have no idea what to believe. But he got cold feet for sure.

Basically
Was ready to sign with ND told them he was coming
Mom got sick? Or whatever
PSU offers with a "game changer"
USC got him on campus yesterday and was going to commit
UW hires Lake to be DC and call the shots he talks Irving out of committing to USC
Sounds like UW took the lead so mom isn't to sick where you can now go to UW?
Now Bama offers

IMO we missed out on a great player. Good luck to him in the future but I'm really looking forward to seeing with Loy's end of the year recruiting review.

This is pretty funny stuff. Per Biggins, he was set to commit to USC Tuesday morning. Then he heard the Lake news and UW became the leader by Tuesday evening.

Note to ND staff, PLEASE go all in on Palmer and Boykin.

I know right... Go to a school because of an assistant who just got the first promotion in CFB history designed so he can leave said school.

I can’t be the only one that doesn’t believe there was a legit family emergency, right?

Sounds similar to Robinson(?) from Georgia who had a different school leading every other day and ends up out of the blue at Cali.
