That's because his 300 was bad weight. ISD thinks that Jeter can be a big end, but will probably still be a better pass rusher on the interior. Is Jeter even a DT now? He's down to about 250 and was talking about how he didn't carry 300 well. I'd take Jeter at SDE and Cage at DT.
Jeter has completely transformed his body and is about 255 and now is without question seen as a SDE rather than DT-3T.

Interesting. i didn't know that about Daniel Cage and the Cage family overall. The truth about the Jones family and ND is, they had been unhappy with ND for a couple of reasons (that were more on Michael than the ND staff). This spring, the lightbulb came on for him and this year he has been playing a lot and playing really well. I saw his parents after the game in the tunnel as they were waiting for the players to come out, and they seemed MUCH happier than the last time I saw them.
Michael's turnaround at ND, fueling IMHO his parents' turnaround on their feelings about ND, which I would venture to say has fueled Jerron's turnaround on HIS feelings at ND. I'd also venture to say that Ohio State isn't exactly upset with Jerron looking around, as they have bigger fish to fry and are more than ready to move on from Jerron.
I'm not in the camp of taking a kid you don't truly want. For every Luke Kuchkley (sp), there are 100 John Turners and other never-was's across the country. But if Jerron can help this team (I'm no expert), then I'd take him. But don't take him just to get another body in there, IMHO, when in your heart you don't believe he will ever contribute. That accomplishes nothing but creating a headache later down the road (unhappy kid who isn't playing, unhappy parents creating problems that coaches don't have time to deal with that type of crap).
if jeter doesn't come back on board look for us to turn up the communication/heat here--247
That communication should have been turned up anyways, even if we didn't have room.

Especially since we are staring at a 4 win season

I agree that BK is here next year no matter what barring something really stupid the second half of the season. I just think, in the scenario I mentioned, if we come out and enter the USC game 5-6 and we are able to win and qualify for a bowl game, he comes back with a lukewarm seat. If he goes into the USC game with a chance to qualify and shits the bed, he comes back next year with the hot seat.
That's what it takes to make the seat hot? My goodness. Standards are lower than ever I guess.
Ha!Have to be pretty low for you to get in.

When the AD has to publicly say you will be the coach next season you're already on the hot seat.
If Kelly is the coach next season he needs to win 9-10 games.
Wrong. You are only on the hot seat when the AD and administration start losing confidence in you (see Texas). Swarbrick made the distinction between perception (how media and some fans see it) and reality (how he and ND sees it). Kelly is on solid ground with the people who matter. No hot seat here.

Maybe no hot seat as of today but let's wait until the season is over. If they finish 4-8 or worse then Swarbrick might look at things differently. If they are 5-7 or better than I think he is back next year. Things can change if the record gets worse over the last 5 games.
Kelly will be in the same position Les Miles was in this year. If he gets off to bad start in 2017 he's finished. You can't have as many embarrassing performances as he has had this year without there being serious pressure to win going forward.
Swarbrick already addressed this today. Brian Kelly will be HC next year regardless of rest of season.
