He doesn't have the mobility of Book, but Book wouldn't throw anything longer than about 15 yards unless he was forced to like in the VT game. He also had an aversion to going through his progressions when his primary was covered. He'd just pull it down and run. Lately Coan has also shown the ability to throw the ball away, so I see him growing in that area. He did scramble against GT, but overall he has been too stationary for most of the season. Both had their faults, but there were way more positives than negatives for both, which is basically what I'm saying.
He's out of eligibility. But yes, you're crazy. Coan isn't beating OSU or Clemson.Am I crazy?
But should we maybe ask Coan to come back for a COVID year? Next year, our O Line is going to be really good.
Combine him and TB with all the weapons on O we'll have?
He will know the system... hes got balls. Don't we want him again?

RS rule didn't come into effect until 2018-19. Therefore, he did not red-shirt in 2017. He played 3 games thus burning his 1st year of eligibility. How? He played 2018, 2019 and 2021. Redshirted 2017 and 2020 doesn’t count. You get 5 years (6 counting 2020) to play 4

I want to see what Buchner has. Only way he develops is with full #1 practice reps and live rounds. Coan is a nice QB if we wanna MAYBE make the playoff, but we aren't winning it all with him most years. This year was the exception in terms of it being "wide open" (but of course there's Georgia).Cade McNamara just beat OSU. You like him more than Coan?

Skillset-wise, Buchner offers a better chance to beat an elite Georgia, Bama, Clemson, OSU. It's the classic high floor vs. high ceiling. We've seen how high Coan's floor is. It's nice -- minimum of a "NY6" game, in the convo for a CFP berth. Now I wanna see how high Buchner's ceiling is and really take a step up and join the ranks of the CFB elite.
Show me where I said anything about not taking Coan this season. I'll wait.Guess we should have not even taken Coan and sacrificed this whole season for Buchners development. WhAt wAs KeLlY ThInKiNg?!?

But I guess it's more likely you'll just continue to project your own narrative like the turd you are...

If you actually consider, ya know, the CONTEXT of the conversation, you would see that we were discussing Coan's eligibility NEXT SEASON. But again, you're too busy driving your own narrative.Lol struck a nerve here I see. A real mature one too
So I ask this - how does the above happen AND Coan is here taking most #1 reps to him?
I'll hang up and listen.

Your shit is old. Folks can be fans AND have opinions (yes, even ones that don't align with yours). Get bent.
Not near as old as the unreasonable complaining about this team and the coaching staff.
And no the response was to you saying Coan couldn't beat OSU and me saying Cade McNamara just did and if u liked Coan/Cade better.
So I think ur the one driving a narrative by changing what u wanted the context of conversation to be.
You injected yourself into a conversation that was explicitly about whether or not the OP would be crazy to want Coan back next year. My reasoning for not wanting him back, besides the fact that he's ineligible, is that I do not believe he has the skill-set required to beat OSU and/or Clemson. You decided to offer the scarecrow argument that McNamara beat OSU therefore I must prefer him over Coan. It's not even remotely apples to apples. Michigan beat them with 300 yd and 5 touchdowns on the ground. Do you really believe in your heart of hearts that Notre Dame's offensive line is capable of that against either OSU or Clemson?
So just stop. You're making yourself look like a real dumb dumb...
Coan isn't beating OSU or Clemson.
Which of note, I still haven't got an answer, and you went on about Buchner getting reps. Neither of which are on topic to if Coan is better or as capable as Cade McNamara.Cade McNamara just beat OSU. You like him more than Coan?
doesn't really matter because A) it wasn't part of the original context B) you didn't consider it yourself...believe in your heart of hearts that Notre Dame's offensive line is capable of that...
Not gonna do this anymore. Have a great day and GO IRISH!Another mature insult.
Interesting, is the bolded not off context? Seems like moving goal posts to fit your narrative, no?
This is a very direct statement issued as a fact. To which I replied

Your new goalposts bring up the manner in which Michigan succeeded in doing it. This was clearly not considered in your original comment of Coan being able to beat OSU. So am I the "dumb dumb" for not considering there's a way to beat the teams you mentioned with a less than elite QB or are you?
And whether I doesn't really matter because A) it wasn't part of the original context B) you didn't consider it yourself.
Just for the record, I do agree that Buchner's skill set better equips ND for matchups vs the elite and I don't think our offense is capable of the rushing performance Michigan put on OSU THIS YEAR.
But again these things aren't related to your statement re: Coans ability vs Cade's ability to beat a team you are using as a benchmark.
if coan has one more year of eligibility and wants to come back i think you bring him back.
If we didn't bring book back this year, we don't bring back coan
if coan has one more year of eligibility and wants to come back i think you bring him back.
he does not
I was under the assumption Book left on his own volition but had the opportunity to come back.
yea i'm just saying if we managed without him we'll be fine without Jack Coan...no offense to the kid he's been great
is it because he was out with an injury during the covid year of 2020?
i hope buchner can be a pocket passer, cause we all know what he can do running the ball.
