You think she sticks with the back up? I do not

Idk...anyone watch Blue Mountain St? Trickle down bangin' worked well for Alex Moran.

Seriously though, he looks like a joke now. Transferring to a competitive situation only to lose? Kind of supposed to set yourself up for success with the portal. Then he quits.

Next stop? If he goes P5 I'll lose it.

Most coaches are going to see red flags if he transfers again. If he does, it's probably to a low level P5 where they are starved for QB's.

He made the same mistake Zaire made.

Should've gone somewhere notable in the Group of Five, rather than taking the risk on a QB competition at a Power 5 school.

Agreed with both. At this point he should choose a school (throwing out names without truly knowing how set they are at QB) like Indiana, Illinois Wake, Vandy, etc as a lower P5 or head to a solid G5.

I think the issue with these guys is they are blinded with the idea that they are bound for Sunday's and need to make a name for themselves at as big of a school as possible.

You're more likely to do so where you're guaranteed a starting spot and can put up big numbers.

I think that would be a good move. Vandy seems likely to start Riley Neal who’s a RS SR transfer from Ball State. His 1B in his QB competition is RS JR Deuce Wallace. I think next season Tate Martell could potentially get a starting job over Deuce Wallace. He’d be playing the top defenses in the country and getting NFL exposure. Seems like a no brainer to head to a lower P5 school. Maybe the best P5 fit on a higher level would’ve been Penn State or Miss St cause they actually ran a system for a jitterbug small QB successfully. I think his time as a P5 QB is done though. Don’t think anyone would touch this quitter with a 10 foot pole after OSU and UM. He’ll probably get lost in the G5 ranks and won’t be heard from again.

He’s a typical 5-star that doesn’t pan out. Blake Barnett did the same thing....Bama >>> ASU >>> USF.

I really like what Hunter Johnson did after getting beat by Lawrence.

Head to a talent starving school like NW with great coaches, and try to make some noise there.

Wait seriously?

Gunnar Hoak is outplaying Fields? LOL

Hoak couldn't beat out TERRY WILSON IN AN AIR RAID OFFENSE.

All you have to do to beat out Terry Wilson is throw one accurate pass. Just the one. And he couldn't do it.

https://247sports.com/college/miami...rricanes-football-after-opting-out-159283179/

Quarterback Tate Martell was one of four Hurricanes who opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Martell intends to return to Miami when the spring semester begins on Jan. 25 according to a source.

Certainly the staff will have to welcome Martell back and discussions will have to be had with him in order for him to rejoin team activities given how he has not been around the team in months after serving a suspension to start the 2020 season and being away from the team at times in 2019 due to personal reasons.

If he does rejoin the team, Martell would be one of three, possibly four, quarterbacks to participate in spring practices along with freshman Tyler Van Dyke, redshirt freshman Peyton Matocha, and recent signee Jake Garcia, if he enrolls early, while D'Eriq King will be out recovering from a torn ACL.

Martell played in five games for the Hurricanes in 2019 after transferring from Ohio State where he spent the first two years of his collegiate career. Martell arrived in January 2019 and was in a tight battle with N'Kosi Perry and Jarren Williams to be the starter with Williams eventually earning the nod in fall camp even with Martell having a strong performance in the 2019 spring game.

Martell was relegated to a limited role in Dan Enos’s offense and moved to wide receiver at one point before a return back to quarterback. He completed his only pass for seven yards, had seven carries for seven yards, and did not catch a pass.

Even though Williams left the team after the season and Rhett Lashlee took over for Enos at coordinator, which better suited Martell’s skills, King arrived at Miami in January 2020 as the presumed and eventual starter. Martell competed in spring practices, which only lasted a week due to the pandemic. Lashlee announced in the spring that Martell was focused on being a quarterback.

“I know that’s his first love and passion and what he’s done well for a long time in his life,” said Lashlee at the time while noting he would be open to Martell changing positions.

Martell was suspended for the 2020 season opener against UAB and shortly after announced he would be opting out of the season. Perry handled the No. 2 role while Van Dyke was third on the depth chart.

King guided the Hurricanes to an 8-3 season and finished ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time in three seasons, checking in at No. 22. However, King tore his ACL in the Cheez-It Bowl, only days after announcing he would be returning to Miami in 2021, and Perry announced he would be leaving the program.

Martell, a junior heading into his fifth year with two seasons left of eligibility, has an opportunity to earn a role with the Hurricanes. A strong offseason could even lead to his first career start if King is not ready when Miami opens the 2021 season with Alabama on Sept. 4 in Atlanta, Ga.

The other three Hurricanes who opted out of the 2020 season were defensive end Gregory Rousseau, who left to prepare for the NFL Draft, and reserve offensive linemen Zalon'tae Hillery and Kai-Leon Herbert. Hillery also intends to return to the team while Herbert's intentions are unknown.

While at Ohio State, Martell redshirted the 2017 season as a true freshman and appeared in six games as a backup to Heisman Trophy finalist Dwayne Haskins in his redshirt freshman year in 2018. He completed 23 of 28 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown while adding 128 yards and two scores on 22 carries.

Martell was a four-star recruit and the nation’s second-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He was 43-0 as a starting quarterback at Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, throwing for 7,507 yards and 113 touchdowns with nine interceptions and rushing for 2,294 yards and 35 scores. He was the 2016 national player of the year by USA Today, Gatorade, and MaxPreps.

bet he ends up at Texas or something dumb like that. He does not have the humility to go to a G5 and simply play football
