How good is the offense he plays on? Is there any other FBS talent on the roster? I wouldn't be so worried about his numbers if he's throwing to a bunch of JV kids. He seems to camp really well.

A wr is going to ball state.....

On Hunter.....Sanford pushing for him to visit...the Texas game seems to be a good option...he wants to hang out with the quarterbacks....rivals

Thx, PA. Are we still assuming that he's currently a Vol lean and this visit would be more about due diligence or is there a chance for good news? I think Wiltfong still has a Tennessee CB, correct?

BTW, gonna be in your state today. Taking my kid to Sesame Place for the 1st time.

Lost to Pike specifically, they aren't some slouch of a team, but 3 picks isn't ever acceptable.

Hopefully the ND coaches make an appearance or 2 at Hunter's HS games this year.

Didn't prevent Rees from becoming a Notre Dame man.

Committed to Tennessee. It's early but this is a huge recruiting loss. Can't consistently lose the best players from a state that already doesn't produce that much talent.

Bummer. I'd like to hear his official reasons for deciding on Tennessee.

With the new trend of top qbs committing very early hopefully ND isn't too far behind in the 17 class now.

Options for this year's class are already dwindled, so I'm not expecting a D. Kizer level of luck with this year.

Class of 17 QB needs to be legit tho.

Damn this one stinks. No doubt Sanford did all he could, don't know about a certain someone even though he did a better job down the stretch. He will still get someone good, but this would have been epic for our 2017 class

I don't think it's a huge loss, yes he is a great QB but Id rather have him commit to Tennessee now than down the road leaving us scrambling. Plus just because he commits doesn't mean it's a done deal. We should have a great season. I'm
Interested to see how the rest of his season goes three Interceptions in his fiirst
Game isn't good at all!!

What a disappointment. Can't help but feel someone dropped the ball on this one.

I'm feeling the same thing, Hunter and several people said he had an excellent connection with UTjr staff and that he didn't have a close connection with BK

We got out worked in my opinion

I'm OK with being outworked as long as it wasn't negligence on our side of things. That said, this is a telling quote:

“I’ve been in contact with Tennessee for so long now and I know so much about Tennessee, I didn’t see a reason why I wouldn’t commit,” Johnson said. “That’s what I told my parents, why wouldn’t I go here? I’ve always felt really, really comfortable with Tennessee.”

Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 11 prospect in America, Johnson felt comfortable with a few schools, but the consistency of Tennessee from start to finish has the Hoosier State blue-chipper planning his future as a Vol.

“The last time we were there on campus, I was able to really spend the whole day with Coach Jones and Coach (Mike) DeBord and Coach (Nick) Sheridan too,” Johnson said. “We just sat and talked and talked football and got to know each other a little bit better during the day. When we left I think me and my family thought it fit me well.

The kid lives in the State of Indiana. How close to ND?! No reason for him to be more familiar with any other school more than ND.

Based on how this has gone so far I assume his visit to ND is still on?

There are an infinite number of possible reasons actually. Citizens of a state aren't a monolithic entity. I'm sure there are Tennessee fans, and thus "Tennessee families," in Alaska; people aren't bound by an arbitrary political boundary.

One possible reason, didn't one or both of his parents go to Tennessee?

The phone in the Clifford home should already be ringing. Package him and Bockhorst? Things should get interesting. Wonder why the staff was so confident in this one.

Yeah, I get that. We just can't be letting stud QBs from in-state go elsewhere. Now, if we had a legit second option, maybe it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but we literally haven't been chasing anyone else. At least that's what Hunter was told. Now what? We better hope Wimbush is 1/2 as good as we all hope he is not else this one is going to hurt. It would go a long way if he can preserve his redshirt.

Fuck it. They already wasted too much time making him their priority, considering the outcome. It was a gamble and they lost, time to cut bait.

Time to move on and win some games. They do that and calls will start coming in this direction.

This. Win and the rest will take care of itself. Go Irish!

For sure. We'll get ours. This guy is what four years from realistically having a chance to play for us? I love our team now and if they do what we all think they can do we won't have any problems finding a top QB in the future.
