MTA playing like a stud, i thought he would just be a big space eater but he's got a lot of burst and hustle in his game. He'll still a manchild too, wait til he's 3 years in the program he could be a 1st round pick

Who does MTA remind you of play-wise?

In Fall Camp, Jamie U posted pretty confidently that MTA is a future NFL talent. This DL has some nice pieces in place for next year. Pretty exciting group with a senior Tillery, 5th year Jay Hayes, Juniors Okwara, Hayes, and Kareem, sophmores MTA/Hinsih, and then throwing in Jayson A into the mix. This has my expectations climbing for sure.

the MSU beat writer BGI had on their podcast to preview the game raved about MTA, said he had studied ND's tape and Myron was the kid that jumped off the screen to him..

Doesn't Bonner have a 5th year available to him too?

Ah yes, the ever depressing practice of projecting forward with Notre Dame football... I still need therapy from doing this for years........ lol

I get it, and some will have PTSD from BVG for years. However, we are seeing improved play from every single one of those players, with their best football still in front of them. I don't think it's unreasonable to be excited about the future of the DL.

For example, Julian Okwara is playing much better football than I thought he was capable of. Have to think he continues to grow as a player in the next 3 seasons.

No doubt they are growing quickly and Elko has made a massive impact... still, you don't want to hear my thoughts on this... very defeatist. lol

He does, which will be nice to have that leadership. I'm just not sure we are seeing enough from him right now to think he'll be able to keep MTA and Jayson A off the field. He'll probably start conceding more snaps to those guys.

Haha, I guess I was less projecting wins and more projecting the quality of the DL specifically. Having a good DL probably helps get us some W's but really just excited about this position group.

True, but he isn't a draft pick right now (probably ever). So, unless he thinks he'd find time as a GT somewhere, I'd be more than happy to have his leadership and depth.

At the moment, I'd certainly take him back, I was just bringing up guys that I expect to be impact players. Don't think Bonner will make much of an impact next year, but I guess we'll see. I certainly hope he does, but he's going to have some stiff competition for snaps.

Absolutely. If there's one thing Elko has shown, it's a penchant for DL subs. While he may not start next year, I would expect him to see time.

Depending on where some guys are developmentally, him being back could sway a RS year instead of having to burn it like we've had in years past with a thin DL.

Don't forget Ade who I think will become a solid contributor.

I'm all in on this kid, he's going to be a monster, just wait until he's got another year of S & C and he's going to take it to another level.

While we're on the subject of bagmen, here's Alabama's 5* Juco DL commit. I checked today, and it looks like he removed the tweet. I wonder why...

This kid is going to be a stud, wonder what the staff does next year when we will have boat loads of talent and depth at DT. Plus the freshman class coming in.

They'll have a very healthy rotation of players who can provide quality reps. It sounds so nice to have that given what we've had in past years.

I keep asking myself, "What in the world is MTA going to look like with 4 years under Bailis?"

Dude is going to be a monster.

Who has a better freshman season: MTA this year, or Jay Ade next year?

back in the recruitment Tim Prister compared him to ND ND/DE Melvin Dansby from back in the day. I think he's got a bit of Sheldon Day in him tbh.

What a lethal combo - Dansby was one of the more impressive physical specimens ever to set foot on campus (would be a good topic) and Day defines "motor" (well maybe co-defines with Zorich) with some serious quickness. If this is even half true he is a sure fire first rounder.
