He apparently signed his grant-in-aid paperwork when Kelly did his home visit. Someone got in his head, and made him change his mind. It's interesting, because everyone said the parents were in ND's corner, and really want him to go to ND.

I have never seen a recruitment go from a near lock to shitshow faster than this one.

Not surprised but what seemed to turn this one for the worst?

Sounds like he got cold feet regarding distance. Like stated already, he gave ND a silent commitment and signed grant-in-aid paperwork, while BK was at his house for his in-home visit. This was all wrapped up, at one point.

I feel like the banquet did more harm than good. Although, I'm sure the wheels had already been set in motion before the visit, it just seemed that Graham and Paschal (sp?) Were going to commit.

I thought it was odd he hadn't declared to us sooner to be honest since it's so known that we are looking for secondary talent to begin with. Early playing time, great education doesn't equal getting good CB's here at ND. They are the most fickle position in recruiting, not just for the Irish.

wonder if greg johnson (who supposedly didn't like it) was being negative during the banquet and soured the visit for the other prospects

Doubt the problem was Greg Johnson. Some people just don't like the cold or getting snowed in or don't appreciate the distance until they've actually made the trip. Or maybe he picked up a copy of the South Bend Tribune or Observer and that gave him pause about going so far away to play for a coach that everyone is calling for his head.

Next year's team will have 10 Cali kids. Should it be more?

Look at the amount of Cali kids offered compared to signed. Look at the kids that were so close to coming to ND and decided to stay or West or go to Oklahoma. This happens more often than a Cali kid coming to ND.

First off, Fresno kids go to OU. I have no idea why ND wastes time there. The ROI is negative. If they want to recruit Fresno, hire Stoops and get it over with.

Secondly, here are the closing rate in the Big 4 states:

1. Florida - 34 offers - 4 commits = 12%

2. Georgia - 24 offers - 0 commits = 0%

3. California - 22 offers - 2 commits = 9% - if Jamire Calvin commits - Cal = 14%

4. Texas - 19 offers - 3 commits = 16%

All this tells me is, offer more kids and make more credit card edits.

Because we're talking about posting guidelines, this is an example of a perfect post.

Oh well. When you're 4-8 you're treated 4-8. Don't like it, don't lose to Duke and Navy.

...Oregon is also 4-8.

Yes, but the ad's point basically was 'your coach is going to get fired', and Oregon already fired its coach, so they can do that and say 'at least you'll know the coach you sign with will be here'... At ND, you have no idea who your coach will be and there'll likely be a change while you're there.

LAX is going to have a meltdown.

I don't think he'll have a meltdown, but the fact that some of our supposed fans can't get it through their head that their actions and words can have consequences is frustrating. A lot of the time, we are our own worst enemy.
