per texas a&m 247 people----ND is very much a threat...michigan pissed him off by DJ leaving so they were out...stanford is also someone he likes...both Texas schools are very shaky at the moment and has been a turn off

Now that's an encouraging update.

I don't think he's coming, not sure why anyone is optimistic. Maybe there is some info I don't have.

If you can't tell I'm all in on this one so you may not want to follow me down this rabbit hole as the despair could be great if he doesn't pick ND. However, Wiltfong reiterated that Jeffrey will need give his family a very good reason to not pick ND in the end. Mom is really on board here.

Plenty of reasons to be optimistic....cautiously.

Sounds like we're the default leader because of what's going on. Someone will step in and calm his nerves about the local schools.

If momma ain't happy, nobody's happy.

I'll let my self feel optimistic when Loy CB's him. If Loy doesn't CB him we don't have a shot. He misses CBs on guys he CBs that don't choose Irish, but he never misses by NOT CBing someone who turns Irish.

Drinking during lunch?

This guy is #1 for me too. I'm onboard the emotion rollercoaster with you Lucky. His film is just so good.

He doesn't have the eye-popping athleticism that, say, Jaylon had (then again almost no one does), but he may have the best instincts of any high school linebacker I've ever seen on tape (no hyperbole).

Except for Joe Schmidt, that is.

Name 2 recruits in the past 3 years that has committed to ND when Loy didn't already have a CB in for it?

Jalen Elliot, can't think of a second one off the top of my head. I think you're actually the voice of reason here, if Loy or especially Wiltfong drops the CB then it's time to lose our collective minds. Although you have to admit it's pretty hard to spin these most recent updates in way that's bad for ND's chances.

What's sort of crazy is that is that while practically no one is Jaylon Smith, McCulloch showed really good athleticism at The Opening. 7th overall in SPARQ, #1 LB by a country mile. 230 pounds ran a 4.7 with a 4.1 shuttle. This is the kind of player that is a "must get" for ND, IMO, I just don't see us landing him from what I've heard. Thought we had a really good chance for awhile.

I get the local thing. I get the kids growing up burnt orange in their blood. But seriously, Texas is a good ways from being remotely good. Maybe by the time this guy is a senior.

And Texas A&M? Johnny Football put them on the map and since has come off the map. Nothing to see there.

Kelly... Hayes.... McCulloch.... Yes please and I'd be thrilled with just one.

That was like so 6 months ago. Time to be greedy and go for them all.

Are you sure? You wouldn't rather go after Ethan Tucky?

How did I miss this gem?

If I see McCulloch, Kelly and Hayes standing in front of me in Austin next fall, I'll be fine that one or two (Tucky and Hansford) got away. But trying to crack on a 4 star LB who at 6-2 runs sub 11, 100's and sub 22, 200's seems like you need better material to come at me with. I'd remind you that Daelin Hayes only runs a 4.84, 40 and it seems to be CW that he's a freak of an athlete.

This. I just went through his Twitter feed and found some Opening related tweets that I didn't see in the thread. His overall score was off the charts and besides Hansford who dropped a sub 4.5, he was the quickest IIRC.

Shaun Crawford. Despite his pledge to Michigan in like August 23, 2013, Loy had him CB'd to Notre Dame since July 27, 2013. And remained firm in that prediction. IIRC, Crawford committed to ND in June 2014.

per loy

he has great relationship w/ ND coaches and not nearly as good w/ stanford which makes them not as high as ND....Texas a&m is unstable causing a lot of concern and same w/ Texas....Texas was his favorite growing up...IF he selects ND at the game and still takes visits or changes decision date that could be a game changer in a bad way

everyone close to him has given their blessing for him to leave for ND

Not to rain on the parade but the kid is going to take visits after he declares. Unless ND tells him not to they are going to have to battle until the end.

Agree that it will be a batlle until the end...but better to start that race out in front than from behind. I hope that he "declares" for the IRISH!
