Just playing devil's advocate, what is he supposed to say? "Eh, I'm shakey on my ND committment and that's why Urban's visiting?"

He's got 13 months til his signing day, he's not going to just flip or open up his recruitment becuause OSU is visiting. This will be one we have to stay on, obviously.

I see what you're saying but HE contacted ISD. They didn't call him because they heard the information second hand and were looking for confirmation. Him reaching out ahead of time to squash rumors shows a lot.

Urbie will stay on him until he's heard "No thanks, I'm Irish and I'm solid" three or four times.

The fact that he reached out to ISD to inform them says a lot to me. Obviously anything can happen in over a years time, but I feel good about this one. Cornerstone piece to this class.

I agree very trueful young man it seems. And respect to let our people know shows he has respect.

Huh? Meyer is swinging by his school, like he has done with a multitude of others in Ohio, to do some post dead period recruiting. Kraemer isn't visiting anywhere.

I was asking for clarification if Meyer was going to the school or Kraemer's house.

Urban will be at his school today. Coombs will be at this basketball game tonight.

In my eyes, it would be a bigger deal and a red flag if Urban wasn't recruiting him hard.

Who's Combs? Or did you mean Cooks?

Hoping Combs is our bagman...

It was brought to my attention by someone on this board that ISD actually reached out to Tommy, not the other way around. Some combination of poor wording and reading comprehension led me to believe otherwise. Still doesn't change my opinion on how solid his commitment is, but just wanted to clarify. Mea culpa.

I wonder if they emailed, texted or just picked up the phone and called :)

FWIW, when asked by BuckeyeGrove.com (rivals) whether he'd be willing to give OSU another look he responded "I'm not sure, I'll have to hear what he (Meyer) has to say."

I've heard better responses in my time, lol.

I'm not worried he committed to ND for a reason. The OSU sights will pester and Urban just did win a Natty

Welp, this is certainly different than "no doubt" Irish. If what Urban SAYS is what matters here, oh boy...

If anyone thought old Urban was going to let kids like Tommy and Liam out of Ohio without a fight, they were sorely mistaken. Hopefully, they see past his line of BS but it certainly is going to be a fight. Hope the staff knows they cant just sit back and let these kids make a decision. OSU will be in their ear big time.

Can we call it bullshit anymore though? He just won his 3rd natty and is being widely talked about as possibly being the best coach in the game right now. Honestly, kids would be foolish not to listen and I'm not sure we have a leg to stand on calling his line BS. We have no idea what he's feeding this kid tonight. Maybe he just walks in the room, throws three rings on the table, and asks when the last time ND was able to produce one of these. Is that BS?

Couldn't have said it any better. Dude produces and Kraemer would be crazy not to at least listen.

Can Kelly throw down 97% of 85, to represent the number of players who graduate with degrees and ask when the last time tOSU was near that?

I agree that I would be listening to Urban because he wins. ND can't compete with tOSU in recent wins, so both should play to their strengths. Maybe 2015 will allow us to talk louder about both.

This. Kid from a catholic school in Cincinnati should know the value of a good education. OSU has us beat in terms of on-field production, but we have them sorely beat where it counts off.

To be fair, the "Urban Liar" thing never had to do with his level of success. He's always won big everywhere he's been. So if we're going up against UM for a kid who really only cares about winning and the NFL, we probably don't stand a chance. Which is no different from how things were when he was at UF and eating our lunch regularly.

But he is a liar. He's notorious for negatively recruiting against ND in ways that aren't remotely fair or accurate. And he regularly makes absurd promises to recruits ("You could be the next Percy Harvin!") that he has no intention of following through on. Does he need to do this? No, not with his recent success. But he does anyway. Which actually might work in our favor, because Kelly has won a bunch of head-to-heads with Urban over kids who saw through his schtick. If he was more straight-forward in his approach (like Saban), that might not be the case.

This. Remember when he got that #1 class, and the recruits came back with stories like: "Meyer told me had a dream, that he was standing on the sideline and coaching me. He told me it was meant to be." Ewwww. I also remember him looking embarrassed after his UF NC by some of the player antics. It was like he loved Tebow, and held his nose for some of the other guys. He would pretend to be Mr. Discipline, and then always have guys playing in big games.

He's an awesome coach. He just seems a little slimey. Just like Saban is an awesome coach, he just seems like a heartless robot. Or Harbaugh seems like a huge jerk.

Personally, my ideal coach is John Harbaugh. In college I like Richt, Strong, and even Malzahn a little.

From a Scout article that was released today.

Talking about the visit he received from Urban...

“I know they’ve gotten a ton of great recruits so far and I’m sure they’ll get many more, but I feel Notre Dame is a better fit for me.”
