Personally, I can't see that.

I agree. But to the question, if he is moved, they better RS one of Okwara, Jones, or Hayes. Okwara and Jones should've been RS last year, so it would make sense that its one of them.

Agreed.

There is an argument that they really should have red-shirted Hayes, but he probably couldn't afford anymore time away from games...

It would make sense, except Jones is a really good ST player and they have no depth at the position.

The reason I asked is the amount of bodies at the "Drop" position. Daelin, Okwara, and I assume that Trumbetti would still be there, right? Add to that group Jamir and that's a lot of bodies that won't get a ton of playing time. I asked about Jamir specifically because he's the one being moved there.

Agree with all that said.

But Jamir's skill set is perfect for that spot.

Trumbetti is a 4-3 WDE. The kid should never drop!

He was kind of a wildman his freshman year and looked promising. He regressed since then. Sometimes I wonder if it was that "we don't call targeting on Notre Dame opponents, we just call it on Notre Dame" hit he took in the Michigan game his freshman year.

I blame it on BVG being a complete dumbass...

Trumbetti will be the comeback player of the year. BVG destroyed him. Now if we can get Kelly out , Claypool becomes Megatron

Beefy is kind of a weird word, but he does look like a legit LB.

Wonder if he might be heir apparent to Morgan?

Interesting...seems like Barajas will never get off the pine.

I think when all is said and done drop DE is probably his best spot.

Yeah. Who's our #2 MIKE right now? Barajas? COuld be a good spot for Jones if he put on some good weight.

Yeah supposedly Coach Lea was worried that Jones might get moved to drop end but he was going to fight to keep him at LB. Whenever his chance comes I think he's going to be a really good player.

Agree. And his work ethic is a complete 180 from his brothers.

IIRC I heard Driskell comment on his lack of enthusiasm and that yes, as it stands he could very well get passed on the depth chart.

Martini or Coney?

Thought Martini and Coney played Will? One of them was typically on the field alongside Morgan last year. Though I haven't yet digested the new scheme and maybe things have changed (I hope not. Those three are our three best linebackers and would seem a waste if they all play the same position)

I wouldn't read too much into what we saw the other day, but Martini was at Buck with the 1's.

Clearly making space for the young LB's to get reps. Sounds like we'll be having quite a few sophomore starters on D in 19'.

Unless Brandon Smith throws a rusty spanner in the gears...

Sets you up nicely for a 2020 run when the team will be properly seasoned.

I need to re-watch the game sometime this week. But, I thought he had a real solid game, he did pickup a fumble. Seems like he is better suited to be a physical presence and play against running teams, as he might not have the extra athletic burst to consistently get after the QB for passing teams. With Tillery and Bonner both gone after this season and MTA and Franklin both coming of injuries i wonder if Jamir Jones can beef up a little more and get reps at DT next year.

Although I like this idea, I don't see him adding 40 lbs in a year.

Maybe he can hang out with Hinnish who looks like he knows how to put on weight fast. Not sure how effective it is to have it in the mid section though. Could provide some leverage I guess. Would be nice if someone can clearly separate from the pack. Micah Dru sure looks the big boy part.

Noticed he was out on the field for a few plays last Saturday. Guess the staff plans on playing him in what they deem the 4 toughest games on the schedule this year.

Played again the second straight week. And man has he looked really good two weeks in a row.

Now coaches have to limit him to two more games this season. Save him for Michigan and Stanford games please.

We need him to wreak havoc next year.
