Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football, Basketball, and Recruiting Front Page
Jordan Fuller entered his first official visit with a burning question, and during his meetings with Notre Dame's coaching staff the Sout 150 defensive back got his answer.
"They asked me what position I wanted to play, and I said cornerback," Fuller said. "They originally started recruiting me as a safety, but they said they’re not opposed to me starting at corner. So that was good."
"My dad asked them what priority I am on their board, and they said I was very high."
The Northern Valley (N.J.) Old Tappan standout left South Bend, Ind., with the Irish in good standing, but also not close to a decision. He is supposed to sit down with his family in the coming week and set up more official visits, and Penn State, Ohio State, TCU and Michigan are all in contention.
But banquet weekend at Notre Dame was first up, and the trip was packed with activities and presentations. He was hosted by freshman quarterback Brandon Wimbush, who played high school football 30 minutes from Fuller's high school.
"I met with pretty much every academic person the first day I was there, and I met with the assistant coaches for a little bit," Fuller said. "Then, that night, I hung out with Brandon Wimbush, and I also hung out with Caleb Kelly and Asmar Bilal. That was cool. It was a good night.
"The next day was more football oriented. We had breakfast – the food was awesome, by the way – and watched practice. That was real cool. Then I met with (assistant) coach (Scott) Booker, (defensive backs) coach (Todd) Lyght and (defensive coordinator) coach (Brian) VanGorder. That was really good. They answered all my questions and let me know I was a priority for them. That was good to hear."
Fuller also had the chance to ask Wimbush what life was like moving from New Jersey to Notre Dame.
"He said he just really wants me to come there," Fuller said. "He said the coaches treat him right and nobody really treats him badly. He really enjoys himself, and he said some of the connections he already made are unbelievable."
A big part of a trip to Notre Dame is the meeting with coach Brian Kelly.
"He said his job is when I walk into the football building, to make it the best part of my day," Fuller said. "He said he wants to make those four years the best four years, and to set me up for life after."
