I'll bet it all he's in good enough standing to finish his degree at the same time as DJ Morgan and that's where the good standing ends.

Wish nothing but the best for him although he single handedly stopped me from taking over Mel's ESPN gig when he retires.

BK has his own dog house as well.

Good news for Javon.

Have to assume the rumored transfer still happens, but this will likely help his ability to find a good landing spot.

Maybe the doghouse was the best thing for him? While I don’t recommend that for anyone maybe he turned the unfortunate situation into a positive and has improved? There’s been a lot said about the receiving corps and that there’s a lot of talent there but it needs to be remembered that the WR corps basically doesn’t exist in terms of talent outside of Claypool and Finke. With a pass-first team coming into this season, ND’s gonna need some serious bodies out there to help out. For the big bodied WR’s you’ve got Claypool, McKinley, Isaiah Robertson, Micah Jones and Kevin Austin. Isaiah Robertson doesn’t seem to be doing much in the way of receiving for this team, Micah Jones never gets mentioned when the analysts talk about the sophomore class (might need a little more time) and Austin is out for now. Basically leaves a bunch of small guys along with Claypool and McKinley. He’s a former top 100 guy so he’s got the tools but it’s a matter of him putting it together. Hopefully he can break out and earn some trust from Ian Book cause he’d be an awesome surprise.

Especially with all the uncertainty around Austin, McKinley could well make a difference for this football team. Better off with him than without him.

In the II podcast they mentioned that Von was surprising, but in a negative way. Looked too big and slow to make an impact. Hopefully he proves them wrong.

Hmmm. In the [limited] clips, he's just looked like a typical possession receiver that moves pretty well, IMO.

And that will be just fine for whoever is giving Claypool some plays off. Just be a big body that has good enough hands to catch a back-shoulder throw when Book pulls it on an RPO.

Sounds like everything they said about Boykin for some reason, before he had that breakout against LSU and there on out.

Ahh, the fall contradicting reports.

Pete Sampson and the Tim's said he looks too big and has no quickness as a result.

Both of those plays were very good individual plays. Strong hands on that end zone back shoulder

Couldn’t be happier for him and I definitely wouldn’t chalk this up to just a good story. I think this earned more interest throughout the year.

For sure. He may not be the fastest guy, but neither was Boykin. McKinley brings a physicality that none of our WRs aside from Claypool currently possess.

Yea, there was a lot of physicality and then strong hands on those two plays. That matches up with a lot of teams.

This is kind of based on the health of Kmet for next week, but I’d like to see more 4 WR. Let’s go back to the Kelly offense to some degree and make them defend a bunch of guys in the perimeter. If Book is so accurate underneath then give him more options. Close it down out of the pistol and go play action or truly open it up with 4-5 WR, and give him a lot of options with crossing routes

Agreed. If we can have Claypool, Keys, McKinley, Tremble and potentially Kmet on the field at the same time, that's a lot of big bodies weapons and a really fast Keys.

I don't want to leave Finke out, he should also get snaps but I still have a hard time viewing him as one of the best 3 options right now.

Finke needs to exclusively play slot receiver. He is not getting separation on the outside when given reps there.

Agreed. There were some shocking instances of not one receiver being open yesterday. Not too sure if that’s related to play-calling, players not being fast enough or poor route running but Finke hasn’t been quite the same as last year for now. Hopefully it means going to the slot puts him back as an effective WR.
