Haven't been on this site in a year, but it's good to be home. To answer questions for non SoCal people, Corona is part of the Inland Empire, which is essentially developed desert country. 80 to 100 miles east of Los Angeles, it is the cheapest area to live in out here actually. With that size house, 1.5 million is a bargain anywhere, let alone in California. 1.5 million gets you 2,200 square feet in Orange County or a nice 800 sq. foot loft in Los Angeles.

His parents definitely do well if they can afford it, but cost of living is so much more affordable in that area compared to others that you get way more bang for your buck. You also are not near anything have sweltering heat to deal with. If he was not a national football recruit, Javon's family could definitely still afford to cover his ND tuition.

Not to get off track even more, but 2005 which was time of last sale was close to the peak of the market. Like I said earlier, it is a beautiful home but Corona does not have the three word location, location, location. I think they would struggle to sell it at that price today (my wife does real estate and I consulted her "expert" opinion).

Golden I think you are a little high with your pricing numbers. My house in Laguna Niguel with a view is more sq. ft at a lower price than those numbers. I know you know this is a highly desirable area too. There are only a few cities where those numbers exist in So Cal.

I don't care where in Cali Corona is, if you can afford a million $+ house, you're doing alright.

I totally agree. My points were geared toward real estate and the true value out here. Timing is everything as they say so just because something was worth something one day does not mean it will always be worth it.

Thanks for the input. I'm talking about places you would want to live in and I live here. But you're right a crappy house in a bad neighborhood with a bad school district can be had for that price.

A 400k home is the average (crappy to you apparently).

How much better does your food taste off the silver spoon?

I would not say crappy, but going to be small. I recently sold a two bedroom condo I owned in a nice OC city. It was less than 1100 sq ft and sold for the mid $4's. During the height of the market, condos in this neighborhood were selling in the mid $5's.

That is the sad reality with California living. $#(! is expensive!!!

And I'm fully aware of that. (Born in socal, family still resides)

The fact of the matter is that "homes in Cali start at $1M " is factually incorrect.

An averaged price home may be small but that doesn't mean the town is crappy or school district either. They may be average or below.

But, just because the homes in a neighborhood aren't $1M+ doesn't mean it's dogshit.

page and a half of new posts and not a single new piece of info on McKinley. Awesome. Learned a lot about Cali real estate though, so that's cool.

I'll be at the game tomorrow when he goes up against the best secondary in the country. #1 vs #2 in the nation, doesn't get any bigger. Bosco and Centennial, two schools separated by 40 miles of the 91 Freeway.

I hope he has a game more like last years playoff run he went on. His numbers are way down this year but Centennial is running the ball more and spreading it out more when passing.

Sounds equivalent to a $75,000 in South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart (aka Michiana) area

My favorite part is that BK's zipper is down.

Why am I not surprised by this?

Don't go by Zillow. Their numbers have been way off, at least in the Indy area. Their info on my house (sq. ft, # of baths and BR's) was not even close and they had my house listed about $50K higher then it was appraised for by two different appraisers recently.

It was the very first article that came up when i typed in average price of household in california.

While they may have their short comings, They arent off $600K.

One of BGI's sources believes that the resources we've put in to Javon has won mom over. Been to campus 3 times and we've visited every contact period. With that said, its not a done deal and Oregon, UCLA, and Washington are not giving up.
