Lmao at my 2015 player comp for Book.
Colt McCoy couldn't handle Ian Book's jock strap. That dude puss'd out in the NCG cause he was afraid of hurting his draft stock.

Yep. And that's my prediction, with one or both of Pyne and Clark transferring.
Yep. If his best projection is a sort of back up in the league then he would be mad not to max out eligibility with the way thing are trending for possible NC contention and his likelihood of breaking ND records.
And then Bucho can come in and wow us with handoffs a few time in the blow outs.
I suspect Book is more likely to head into coaching then big NFL success.

Colt McCoy was a pretty elite College QB. He put up some gaudy stats before it became the norm in these high tailored college offenses. He’s one of two players in NCAAF history to finish with a career completion percentage greater than 70%. Also ended up a 3rd round pick and started almost two years in the NFL. In fact, he played a game as recent as last year.
Eh, a lot of people still think he puss'd out of that NCG though. He saw the way Alabama was manhandling his team, decided to take a fall to avoid hurting his draft stock. Small cajones on that dude. Those two years he started for the Browns are hardly anything to hang a hat on, and I say that as a Browns fan.
Has anyone brought up yet how we will probably ask him to come back?
Buchner could back him up for a year.
I'd be absolutely shocked if Book returned.
I don't think Book can do much more at this point to increase his draft stock. He probably knows he's a late draft pick at best, and a guy who will need to likely earn a roster spot in rookie camp. The clock is ticking and he'll probably want to make the jump and get his shot while he's still young.
I don't know about that. Dude got beat to sh*t in the Nebraska game by Suh.
If he was willing to hang in there in that slug fest, where he and his offense looked like complete ass, I can't imagine why he wouldn't do the same against Alabama where he looked considerably better.
There's a lot of rumors out there, but by the NCG Colt had already cemented himself as one of the best QBs that year and a high draft pick assumed to be coming his way (Or so he thought). To save face he took a weak bump in the game and seemed fine coming up initially, but he took himself out and played up a stinger or something and never came back in. There's nothing malicious or that devastating about the hit he took, shouldn't have been enough to take him out of the game:

I'm not the one that came up with this! Somebody was discussing it again on TigerDroppings in 2018 almost a decade later. I'm just tellin' you what people have been saying for years. I remember people talking about it on the Texas site back then too. Plenty of high draft picks have avoided bowl games since then, they just tend to make the announcement before the game. Maybe Colt saw the writing on the wall and thought a poor performance would hurt his draft stock. Some rumors claim his father admitted to telling Colt to exit the game for the same reason.
Fake injury or not, I don't think Book would ever take himself out of a game even if he had a high draft projection (Which he obviously doesn't at this time).
I'll die believing Joe Bosa took himself out of the game (targeting) so he didnt get hurt
He is starting to sound like a coach in his press conferences.
Future QB coach under head coach Tom Rees
I like Ian Book.

If this has been discussed already I apologize, but is he done after this year or is it possible with the eligibility rule he comes back next year?
Only thing holding him back from a long career in the League is his progressions. I think another year in South Bend will help him.
Yes, and he was reading and progressing well the last two weeks. I'm not sure if something clicked in him, the WRs are now stepping up and they are just finding the chemistry, or what... But if he had a full year of looking like the last two weeks, his chances would be a lot better. I still don't see him as anything more than practice squad project, but that might change with a whole year of higher level play.
In 2018, they hype was there. Last year, it died and realization might have set in. A new spark might be set.
I'm not sure he gets drafted even if this level of play continues the rest of the year.
However, if he comes back in 21 and plays this way all year he's definitely getting drafted. I'm not saying he'll be a starter, but he'll be on a roster for a long time if he can continue to effectively go through his reads.
Imo, his floor is a guy that can win you a game or two if the QB1 goes down for a stretch. Ceiling might be Jeff Garcia?
