i took him not playing was due to trade happening as to why else wouldn't you have played him? not sure he is really qb4 but that was impression i got from him not getting snaps

Hill looks like he lost a significant amount of muscle over the offseason. Don't know how feasible that is for him now.

That is, but Taysom Hill isn't a typical QB, so they can use him as WR/RB/TE depth, so to speak.

Still, not a lot of teams carry 3 QBs, let alone 4. They kind of had to carry Ian though, because he wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes on the waiver wire.

I agree - Hill is not really a QB, IMO. Are they going to pair one of the with Michael Thomas in a trade? Really shows their confidence in their first three QBs to keep a fourth around.

I was really shocked when his name got called in the fourth, too, and I'm a big Book fan. Just didn't see how his game would translate on Sundays. Limited downfield passing prowess, pocket comfortability, etc. And his scrambling plays won't be as effective against those athletes in the NFL as they were in college.

I hope he pans out, though. Hey, if Colt McCoy and Chad Henne are still NFL QBs, why not Book. Brian Hoyer and Drew Stanton had jobs for a long time. Who knows.

Did it say they are keeping 4 on the 53? Because if they just mean in the room as in a part of the organization, it could also mean on the practice squad. Two true QBs, plus Hill to be a utility guy, and one more on the practice squad seems to make sense.

Can't really blame Book if they decided to dumb down the playbook during his time at ND. How many times did QBs in the decade from 2010-2020 do well as freshmen when the offense was simplified for them, only to hit that Sophomore slump when BK "opened the playbook?" Maybe they finally figured out whatever they were doing was too much to grasp for most college QBs.

I have absolutely no idea why Ian Book is listed as Out for New Orleans (Couldn't find anything, all it says is "Inactive: Coach's decision"), but if he's back for the next game he could be one snap away from playing if Trevor Siemen goes down.
