andrew at rivals-- I saw him out at the RCS in Los Angeles and he dominated in the slot. Notre Dame likes him there, but he could also see some touches out of the backfield.

Coach D --He has some similarities to Amir Carlisle and CJ Sanders. I think CJ is a better downfield pass catcher and a better prospect, but that's what Alloway is as a player. Would be a solid pickup and serve the slot/return man role.

I agree with coach D assessment.

who's the main competition if he's near ready to commit???

It was believed that UCLA was ND's biggest threat but if he really wants to leave the state then they are pretty much out of it. He holds offers from ASU, Arizona, and Wisconsin but that is about it.

He also has offers from Cal, Colorado, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Oregon St, Utah, Washington, Washington St.

I like the Duke offer for obvious reasons plus Utah & Washington are strong offers from programs going in the right direction.

Big visit coming up for Alloway

At Wednesday night’s Ground Zero commitment ceremony, we caught up with Fontana (Calif.) Summit wide out Damian Alloway, who was on hand to support his 7v7 teammates.

Damian Alloway is one of the top receiver prospects out West and definitely among the fastest. He’s an explosive slot receiver with very good speed, runs well after the catch and can get behind a defense.

Alloway plans to make a late summer decision and has a big unofficial visit coming up.

“I’m going to Notre Dame July 23,” Alloway said. “I’m excited to see Notre Dame, not only is this my first time seeing the school, it’s my first visit to any school out out of state. I like Notre Dame a lot and have a real good connection with the coaching staff but want to see how comfortable I’ll be and how well I’ll fit in.

“I’m not afraid to leave home but want to make sure I’ll be comfortable in a different environment. I also plan to drive and visit Arizona and Arizona State and Oregon and Oregon State this summer as well. If everything goes well and I’m comfortable with my decision, I’ll commit right at the end of the summer.”

At one point early in the spring, UCLA looked like the team to beat and then California took over as the team to beat. The Irish look to be in a good spot right now.

“I would say Notre Dame probably leads now,” Alloway said. “Like I said though, I need to make sure I’m comfortable there because it’s a completely different environment than when I’m used to. After them, I would say UCLA is right there too.

“If I leave the state, it would be Notre Dame, if I stay closer to home, UCLA looks good. I still talk to Coach Yabrs and Coach Martin at UCLA all the time and I’m also in constant contact with Coach Burns and Coach Peeler at Cal. I still want to take my official visits, even after I commit, but my commitment to my school will be solid.”

Alloway said he has already set up his official visit to Notre Dame for (Oct. 17) when the Irish host USC.

Unless Alloway has a bad visit to ND, he'll be Irish. Talked to a source about it again this morning. I don't see him choosing Cal or UCLA over ND.

I think Alloway is more likely to announce a college decision in favor of ND in August at a Ground Zero (his 7on7 team) press conference than while on his ND visit but I guess we'll see.

This is awesome news. Alloway doesn't have that extra gear at the top of runs but he does have quick acceleration and that is far more important.

A GAIII-type athleticism is great but only if you can get the edge.

Alloway's athleticism will allow him to create edges. Excited to add him if he indeed chooses ND.

pretty cool that when he was offered by ND, his uncle stated he would drive him there from NY....so they will be making the 10+ hr trek

possible that he commits but stated he will probably wait to talk it over w/ family once he returns

Why the wait?

Happens all the time. The past 3 commits for us, off the top of my head, were silent commits who waited to make their announcements even though they had committed to the coaches already. It's good for them, and sometimes it's great for the school bc it gives the school more pub (many schools ask kids to hold off so they can make the commitment official at an opportune time).

His training facility/program "GroundZero" is trying to get off the ground, so my guess is he will wait and do it with them.
