Officials could make an educational video showing all aspects of the "Targeting" rule using Nicco's highlight film. He needs to learn how to tackle properly and not lead with his head every time.

As far as the offer goes...I don't see it. I had two safeties at my high school this year that both look 10x better. Both are going D1 (mid-major FBS and FCS), but I may send their highlights to ND...

But, I guess I'm just being a "hater". I hope he continues to prove me wrong. And, as always, I trust the staff.

Are you fishing for someone to ask what school and what safeties you have that are 10x better? Fine, I'll bite. Share, won't you?

Might his offer be for corner? When a guy's a virtual lock if offered, and he's a borderline prospect, I wish the staff would wait a bit longer, but I digress.

No, not at all. And 10x is an exaggeration. Earlier this season, I thought about sending film of our players to ND, but I didn't think they compared to the caliber of player ND was recruiting at their positions (one will move to OLB in college), so I didn't. All I'm saying is now I'm seeing film of a player with an offer, albeit a '15 recruit, not '14, and I think our players compare favorably. I'm still not going to send their film to ND (they're both happily committed elsewhere), but it certainly got me thinking.

I don't understand it right now, but I trust the staff so we'll see.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that is Frank Fertitta III, Lorenzo's brother and Nicco's uncle. I'm on my phone (and drunk) so researching this is not going to happen. I know Frank III went to USC though and I know that Lorenzo didnt go to USC.

And the USC business school is the Marshall School of Business

I haven't had a chance to watch the film, but just fishing here.....could it be that he was offered as a preferred walk-on or that might somehow be the plan? I mean, if anyone would bite, I would think it would be a scenario where 'full ride' is next to meaningless to the overall family bottom line, especially if he really is an ND fan.

Just a guess.

I don't think they would offer a preferred walk-on to a 2015 recruit. Plus his family's wealth shouldn't affect whether or not he gets an offer. The Hunter and Robinson families had more than enough cash to send their kids to ND.

THIS

Just because some schools might try to use it to get around scholarship restrictions, and thus have a better team, there is no reason not to let the kid stand on his own athletic abilities. It's far more rewarding to him, and will surely give him a sense of accomplishment that he will want to duplicate at the next level.

I spent about an hour today at work researching the Fertitta family and their "mob ties" simply google Fertitta family mafia. I know it's the past but I'm a history buff and found it interesting. The story reminded me of the post about the Manziel family and their past ties.

His upside reminds me of Ahmad Black, in stature, athleticism and the way he hits and is around the ball. Im not sure if he shouldve been an early offer, but we probably need about 4-5 DBs this cycle so an early offer doesn't bother me.

Seriously. This offer is perplexing relative to Justin Tranquill.

I'm sorry but by watching the tape and seeing that he played JV and knowing that he is a junior that makes me wonder what is going on. I'm sure he is a hard worker but we all know we will be taking a small class next year so why this kid?

This offer so early does puzzle me a little bit. No way he plays safety in South Bend, he could be recruited as an athlete though...

Sorry...I'm not liking it. Think we went way early on this one. Not sure how he was timed in the 40 but 4.6 doesn't whip up my skirt for a guy this size.
