Too bad there were academic problems since we struck out today.

It's Louisiana. That says it all. Tillery went to a academic private school in north Louisiana. Big difference between that and an inner city New Orleans school.

Dont expect to land too many Louisiana players period.

Not an intelligent post. Look up his high school before making up differences because it's an "inner city" school.

“He is not sure what direction he wants to go, whether it’s football or baseball or a combination of both,” John Curtis coach J.T. Curtis said. “He has some opportunities to do that, and he’s waiting to see how things unfold after signing day. He felt like it was in his best interest to wait.”

Dale was a member of the The New Orleans Advocate’s All-Metro Team after his senior season when he recorded 53 tackles, three interceptions, and eight pass break-ups.

Dale took an official visit to Tulane and the Wave is one of the schools that will likely allow him the chance to play both sports.

“I’m hoping that in the next few days or so he will be able to make a decision about what he wants to do,” Curtis said. “It’s just a wait-and-see game right now. He loves playing both sports and he feels he has a future in both sports.”

Curtis is a suburban private school. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have college placement figures equal to or better than Evangel. JC kids wind up at Tulane and LSU pretty regularly. Joe McKnight (USC) came out of there. So did Michael Stonebreaker.

Would love to find another Stonebreaker.

Well there goes the bad grades theory. He may not have ND football grades but if Tulane is taking him, he can play at @ 98% of Power 5's.

Once again, there is a difference between bad grades and not being able to get into Notre Dame.

There was talk that he didn't sign anywhere because of grades... like juco was going to be his needed path. That why I used "bad" in this case.

That being said, I would love to be able to go over the admission requirements regarding potential football and basketball recruits at ND, Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Vandy, Rice, Cal & SC then compare them to the requirements for the rest of the school's student body. Add to that, how many exceptions does each team receive and what is the absolute floor for those recruits. It would be interesting to see how that compares to the Ivy's and in basketball, other top flight schools like William & Mary or Georgetown for instance.

Notre Dame gets more "expection/boderline" kids in than most people think. ND uses a sliding scale for GPA vs Test Score.

High GPA = Flexibility on Test Scores
Lower GPA = Less Flexibility on Test Scores.

I don't think anyone's claiming that most FB or BB players at Notre Dame (or most of the schools you listed) would be academically competitive with non-athlete applicants coming out of high school, or that they'd get in to ND regardless of athletic ability. In that sense, they're (almost) all "exceptions" who get bonus points in admissions because of what's basically a super-extracurricular skill, like some world- class pianist who's lousy at writing. This is true even at Ivies, where athletes will get bonus points in admissions too. Though maybe not as many.
But there is definitely a floor at ND, and it is higher than NCAA minimums and includes specific coursework like foreign language that may not be required elsewhere. And it extends to their college years too - FY Studies, philosophy & theology, etc. And it does not seem like Notre Dame takes kids they don't think are capable of clearing that floor and graduating like anyone else, with a legit degree.
Maybe that's a squishy way to describe admission requirements, but it seems like the situation.
