Rumors circulating that Ohio St was getting into the mix for Tiassum, but there isn't anything substantial to the rumor as he states he is solid to ND

Geez I am not on board with asking a D-Line commit to find another school. If they have two legs and weigh 270+ they get a scholarship

I kind of agree but with Taylor and Tillery at DT and with Treadway as a possible swing player, then a 3rd DT true DT this year might be a bit of a luxury. Now I am not a fan of pushing him out but I could see why the staff might feel that he is not needed.

I say keep Tillery on the OL in that case, unless he ends up being a monster DL. He's projected better at OT anyway, and Stanley won't be here more than 1 more year.

Agree. I'm not a fan of running thin on the D-Line like we have the last two years.

Though I understand that, last year we signed Cage, Hayes and Mokwuah, and this year we have Tillery, Taylor, Tiassum and Dew-Treadway is probably a swing player. That is a lot of DTs over a two year period. Losing Tiassum wouldn't be too hurtful. Though I am not a fan of pushing out commits unless they are not meeting academic expectations.

You expect to have a decommit or two every year, so it wouldn't surprise me if he decides to leave. However, I have a problem if he is being "pushed out". ND is better than that. I am a ND fan because it has been a cut above the rest. If we are "pushing" a verbal commit out, our integrity is being compromised.

If a recruit fails to qualify academically or decides their heart is somewhere else that is one thing. If we begin to push recruits out (ala Alabama and the SEC) we have diminished our integrity substantially.

I don't like the idea of him being "pushed out" either if that is indeed what's happening, especially this late in the process.

I believe Notre Dame pushed Mattingly out.

Towards what jimmymac said, I tried checking on it and I'm not sure it's accurate. Obviously, there is a lot that people have questioned about Tiassum since he was offered through his senior season and all-star game performance. People have raised concerns over basically everything, including conditioning and projection, and with Tillery cycling to the DL I follow where this is coming from.

With that being said...
1) I'm skeptical that we'd push someone out, period. Obviously, conduct and academics excepted.
2) ISD is reporting that the rumor doesn't appear to be true.
3) I haven't yet heard a source of any kind say it's true.

So, we'll see what happens but I'd pump the breaks for now until it's better confirmed or denied.

To your point Lax he tweeted that the Pot Of Gold is coming. I doubt we'd send a pot of gold to a kid we're trying to push out.

Wasnt it more of him wanting to take visits and we said that if he does then he's no longer a commitment? I'm pretty sure he was trying to take visits before we pulled the plug but maybe I'm not remembering it correctly.

Per Loy, OSU reached out to Tiassum and that is where this started from.

Ethically I don't like pushing recruits out, and I'm not sure I get why we would ever do that. We never have 85, so if they want to add someone else to the class just do that and figure the math out later. Somehow I doubt it will end up being an issue.

Mattingly was a weird situation, not sure I ever got a complete story there. But basically I think it was a combination of him wanting to play offense, ND wanting him to play DOG linebacker, Mattingly wanting to take visits, ND being undefeated and not giving a crap, and then a mutual parting of ways. I'm pretty sure I heard Oregon told him he could play TE. Of course, he currently plays linebacker.

Is there a reason you say that?

I just don't know that the staff would be THAT blatant about pushing him out. Either come clean and say there's no room (highly doubt it) or honor the schollie and suggest he looks elsewhere as he will likely be buried on the depth chart here (yet still send PoG). I just don't see it being handled any other way. Absolutely no source here, just gut.
