I don't know the actual stats but watching Finke he is sneaky good at fighting for extra yards any way he can.

i agree he fights, but looked at Austin running routes and catching the ball. he's like a gazelle compared to Finke. much more separation.

Agree with everyone. If we could trot out Boykin, Claypool and Austin on three wide receiver sets and remove one of them for the 2-TE sets, that's a lot of size and athleticism to contend with for an entire game.

I'm already getting ahead of myself and salivating over a three wide set of Boykin (big), Austin (big/fast/quick), and Lenzy (speed) for next year. DB nightmare. I'd have Boykin and Austin crossing all night and Lenzy taking the top off the D once every 4 pass plays.

yup. but i will not be shocked if his PT decreases as the young guns improve

You're underestimating how good Finke is. Austin will be hard to keep off the field, but if Finke's confidence continues on its current trajectory and he adds a few more pounds in the weight room, he can have a solid NFL career.

^This. Though I don't know about a solid NFL career, but he will have a shot.

Agreed. I am a little confused on why we are so excited about replacing a guy that has made some seriously clutch receptions for this team.

The back-up QB at Notre Dame is always the most loved player - I guess since our QB situation is mostly settled, we have moved on to other back-ups being the most coveted...

I really like Finke and if he continues to play at a high level, I hope we find ways to get him the ball. But there is a lot of athleticism on that roster and I also want to see what the young guys can do.

Austin, Lenzy and Keys all look like players to me. Hopefully Finke starts making even more plays and then we'll all shut up. But we're always hoping for the next breakout star.

I hear ya. And Kevin Austin looks to be a stud, first round talent.

I think the only way Boykin leaves is if we win the National Championship or if he does enough that he is likely to get drafted in the first 2 rounds.

Boykin reminds me at times of Maurice Stovall. And that is not a bad thing at all, but I'm guessing and hoping he sticks around next year.

Idk. I feel like Mo Stovall was tall and lanky and Miles Boykin is tall and thickly built. I think Boykins is more physical and a better route runner at the same stage in their careers. I think Stovall was faster and more athletic than Boykins is. Lastly Boykins I feel is more competitive than Stovall ever was.

I think the only difference other then, YES MB Is built better but slower. It's better coaching.

He won't. If he stayed for 5 more years he's just not quick enough for the league. He has an opportunity to better himself and his draft stock after he stays. He's a good kid and I'm pretty sure he knows who he is.

Could you see Miles Boykin being an Alshon Jeffries type WR in the NFL? I think that’s how Miles would fit in. Will never get much separation, but has a huge target range and will compete for every ball thrown in his direction.

I love Finke as a WR. Hardworking, blue collar, underdog, clutch... He's one of my favorite guys on the team. That doesn't mean we don't have guys behind him that aren't potentially more talented and capable. In very limited targets, Austin has looked fantastic, and has the highest yards per catch of WRs. Unlike the backup QB that teams really never get to see, he has played, and has made the most of it while on the field. Definitely not calling for Finke to be benched or anything remotely close. I just want to see Austin get more targets. And I wish what targets he did get, were in sets with Boykin, not instead of Boykin.

I hear that. At this point in the season the coaching staff is having Austin focused on one WR position, because he is a freshman and didn’t EE. For them to be on the field at the same time, I think they would have to move Boykin to another spot. Maybe put Miles in the slot for a play or two with Austin outside?

Agreed. I can't imagine he would run anything better than a high 4.6.

Took me awhile to remember where I saw this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Boykin posts a faster than expected 40 time given proper combine training. If he goes 4.5 with his measurables, he's getting paid.

One of the tangible measures of progress of Speed School, in session since January, are the 10-yard splits in the 40-yard dash of the various Irish players.

With anything under 1.5 seconds being considered elite, starting cornerback and the top sprinter on the Irish track team, Troy Pride Jr., was the only Irish player pre-Speed School who fit into that category.

Since then, seven of Pride’s teammates have joined him, including Citrus Bowl MVP, wide receiver Miles Boykin.

Great point. Miles would be monster in the slot. Would anyone be better as a possession guy with his size (vs a LB or S). Not sure who could match up with him.

In a 3 WR set, would love to see Miles in place of Claypool, and have Austin, Boykin, and Finke.

Next year, the combinations could be crazy good. Assuming Boykin comes back, having him, Finke, and Claypool return,,,,, and then adding an experienced Austin, and potential other studs in Lenzy, Keys, and Wilkens sounds dreamy..... I think I'm most excited to see if Lenzy can blow the back end of the Ds up.

Per ISD, strongly expect him to announce for NFL.

Was his name put in for feedback and if so, do we know what he got? Because at first this seems kind of shocking, but I wonder if it was like Love where his feedback on things to improve was basically physical traits and not really something he can work on with another year in college.

He’s got size but that’s about it. This doesn’t seem like a well thought out plan.

It was never officially announced who got draft feedback, but all the ND reporters figured he was one of them. They also thought that Love was the only one to not get a “return to school” response. If he does go, I’d be shocked if he were drafted. Seems like an UDFA practice squad type guy but who knows.
