Supposedly Notre Dame offered when we were visiting Luatua and offered Dennis Todd:

In addition to Luatua, the Irish also offered a scholarship to his teammate, wide receiver Dallis Todd. Todd has since made a verbal commitment to Oklahoma. Additionally, the Irish have already extended a scholarship offer to La Mirada 2015 recruit, quarterback Kevin Dillman.

@MODS - Delete if this is a duplicate. But didn't see a thread on Dillman yet, and with how much experience Denbrock has La Mirada, we are bound to be a player here.

I've never seen that haha

I think Collin Klein is a great comparison. Big, can run, but the difference is that Dillman doesn't have a funky throwing motion

I went to the last high school game between Ronald Curry and Michael Vick, and they both had a kick return for a TD in that game.

I love this kids film and to hear he grew up a ND fan hopefully makes this a perfect marriage. He and Tyler Luatua would be huge gets out of Cali.

His film reminds me of Dane Crist's HS film, but he appears to be a bit more fluid and faster.

That's incredible. You're very lucky to have been able to see that. I haz irish envy.

Just starting to get my mind wrapped around '15 quarterback recruiting. That said, really NICE way to start thinking about it. Kevin looks all the part.

I lived in Hampton Roads when they were in high school. The were both just amazing in HS. I also saw Allen Iverson play HS football, and he may have been better than Curry and Vick.

I try not to get excited about recruits that have 20 months left til their NSD, but I'm making an exception next time. No offense to Benoventi, but this is the QB I want next cycle.

I really like his film. Rosen and him are my two favorite QB's as of right now in the '15 class.

I hate to break it to you guys, but he did not grow up a ND fan. I think Wooly misread the article. His host family are diehard ND fans, which certainly bodes well for us.

I mentioned this in another thread a few weeks ago but I'll mention it here as well. I know Kevin personally and can tell you he is a very mature kid, far beyond that of your normal HS rising junior. He is a RKG and his physical tools are incredible, however, I have seen him compete on multiple occasions and he is not the #3 QB in this class right now. He has a lot of work to do and I'm hopeful he will develop into a starting BCS caliber QB after a few years in college, but I have not seen the "it" factor that you often see in great QBs. I think he has thrived at La Mirada because he has a lot of talent around him.

Not trying to pi$$ in anyone's cheerios here, just calling it like I see it. It will be interesting to see how he does as a starting QB for La Mirada for a full season. I'm certainly rooting for him.

With you being close to the situation, what is ND's opinion of him and what is the timeframe for an offer?

TJ on II has reiterated that the staff is evaluating QBs and implied a new wave of offers will come out with Beneventi, Campbell, & Gibson being the first group offered. I would expect Reese Ryan, Josh Rosen, Kevin Dillman, Drew Lock, & James Morgan to be under heavy considerations for offers with some others as possibilities too

My apologies, his his family are die hard fans, doesn't say specifically that he is though. One would certainly assume that he has an interest in the team considering his entire family are die hards.

From a talent standpoint, I don't know how you could look at this kid's film (even his sophomore film) and say that he isn't a very talented player. Go watch some of the other QB's in this class and then watch Dillman. His WR's aren't the ones throwing darts around the field. His RB's aren't making him run back kickoffs, and he scrambles very well when things break down on the offensive line. I'm not saying he doesn't play with a bunch of talented kids... just saying that he is talented too.

As this class continues to be evaluated, I think your opinion of Dillman will be in the minority.

So does Dillman have an offer or not? I don't see it on his 247 profile, but ISD clearly reported that the staff offered him in the article above. Were they mistaken?

In addition to Luatua, the Irish also offered a scholarship to his teammate, wide receiver Dallis Todd. Todd has since made a verbal commitment to Oklahoma. Additionally, the Irish have already extended a scholarship offer to La Mirada 2015 recruit, quarterback Kevin Dillman.

No clue. I don't have any inside info re: his recruitment and would not consider myself 'close to the situation'. We know each other but we don't talk frequently and I'm not going to contact him to find out where he is in the process or what his thoughts are on ND. If I hear anything I'll certainly bring it here. I just wanted to share my thoughts on him as a person (VERY positive) and as a recruit (needs a lot of development).

Again, his HOST family are a bunch of diehards. I said this certainly bodes well for us, but it is not as if he grew up a ND fan. He probably never watched a ND game until he moved to the states. I was just trying to kill this misconception before we endure 12 months of 'this kid is a diehard ND fan, he should be a lock' comments.

From a talent standpoint, I don't know how you could look at this kid's film (even his sophomore film) and say that he isn't a very talented player. Did I say he wasn't very talented? Perhaps that's how you interpreted it but that's certainly not what I said. I have seen him compete in-person on multiple occasions. I have seen him at his worst, not simply in a 5-minute highlight film of his best plays, and he has A LOT of work to do, as any HS soph would. His physical tools are off the charts, probably better than any QB in the class, but success at the QB position relies heavily on the mental side as well and this is where I have concerns.

As this class continues to be evaluated, I think your opinion of Dillman will be in the minority.

So we are clear, my opinion of him is very high. I said he is not a top 3 QB in the class and I will stick by that unless he starts for an entire year at La Mirada and blows up or shows me he has the "it" factor you see in great QBs. Those were my only 'negative' comments about him.

It's refreshing to hear somebody tell us more than the highlight reel shows, but if we are honest there isn't a sophomore in the country that doesn't need a lot of development. Things are going to slow down for him and the mental side of the game will come with snaps and coaching. I am high on his potential and personally hope he gets to don the gold helmet for us.

This

I feel you're downgrading Dillman because you've seen not just his highlights but that seems unfair considering I'm guessing you've only seen highlights of other QBs

STL, this is not directed at you, but what frustrates me the most about this site is how people either focus on the negative comments while ignoring the positive, misinterpret posts and/or twist words if they do not agree with a poster's opinion. I am sure this is commonplace on internet message boards but IE is the only one I frequent and post on. It can be frustrating.

STL, this is directed at you, how am I downgrading Dillman? Is it because I said he was not a top 3 QB in the nation right now or that I didn't see the "it" factor in him? Was I downgrading him when I said he was a RKG who has incredible physical tools that are probably the best in the nation?

Can you tell me why he is your favorite prospect in the 2015 class? I'm curious what you saw in his 16-play highlight video that revved your engine.

Yes

No I like here those things and that's part of the reason he is my favorite prospect

I think of any QB in this class he has the most potential and has only scratched the surface of it. IMO He has a strong arm, elite athleticism, pretty good footwork, elite size, and has all the intangibles you would want. His throwing mechanics are good not great, probably the weakest part of his game but he's got time and the desire to improve them.

I feel like any attempt to explain why I don't think he is a top 3 QB in the nation will come across as negative and putting him down. I'm not going to do that. I really like him as a prospect and a person. I want him Irish even though I think 24/7 rated him too highly.

No I like here those things and that's part of the reason he is my favorite prospect.

Well then you will love to hear that one of the country's top QB gurus LOVES this kid. He doesn't think he's top 3 though :)

Agree with this scouting report. When I saw him play, he was under a lot of duress and didn't handle it well, which you don't see in his highlights. I'm looking forward to seeing how he improves in this area the next two seasons. He has a lot of time to develop before the 2018 or 2019 football season.
