I'm not sure BK wants the Cincy Offense... aggressive and fast - Yes - but
more about dictating terms and controlling the clock

You may be right, but I think he's going more for "the best of both worlds."

For the duration of his stay at UC, and in many of his comments upon arrival at ND, BK talked about the importance of "chunk plays" above all else. With Rees at the helm for ~3 years, that strategy had to be dumbed down. Of course, you want chunk plays regardless of who your QB is... but your QB has to help a bit. Rees was a good QB for the most part, but the ball/clock control offense benefited him and helped him overcome some of his limitations, so BK had no choice but to go with the "control the clock" offense.

As for "dictating the terms"? Cincy's offense dictated the terms at all times when BK was at UC. Fast-pace, no-huddle offense that worried less about what the defense was doing and more about getting BK/Quinn's plays in ASAP. That is dictating the terms of game. Tommy Rees going to the line and looking at the defense, making a read, looking back to sideline, and then making changes is not dictating the terms.

If BK is the coach Barnett will be at ND come NSD 2015. Likes that Denbrock will be OC, they have a good relationship.

What part of his release don't you like?

Watch highlights from his camps, it's easier to see. He has somewhat of an elongated throwing motion. Brings the ball to far back before coming forward. As he gets stronger that should correct itself. It is something that should be addressed but I feel confident that he's investing enough time in doing so.

The part everyone else says he needs to work on. Again, I don't think it's that bad, and he might even have fixed it by enrollment time. It could be a bit sped and more compact.

His release is really the only thing that some people have pointed out. I don't really think its that weird of a release, but he's working on it

Thanks. I haven't watched any clips on him and was curious.

I will say again, if you get a chance, listen to the tapes of this kid's interviews. Very mature, team oriented, head on straight, eager to improve.

/homer hat on

If you watch the tapes in roughly chronological order, there does appear to be some improvement in the more recent tapes. I think with another year under his belt he'll have it pretty sorted.

/...screw that, it looks good, I'm leaving the hat on

IMO, the Cincy offense is on its way this year (and for the duration of BK's time at ND). BK didn't have a chance to truly open it up in '10 or '11 with Crist and Rees at the helm. In '12, he finally had his QB to open the offense back up but he didn't because the defense was great and gave Golson the chance to develop without being overwhelmed. Then Golson gets suspended, so we go back to Rees and the offense goes back to BK's watered-down spread.

Now that Golson is back and the defense is a somewhat "unknown," I think BK will have no choice but to open things up in a way that resembles the UC offense more than we have seen yet. It helps that there are anywhere from 6 to 9 pass-catchers that have all shown the ability to be big time weapons too... you can't involve them all without opening things up more.

I get what you're saying but I don't believe Rees is what was holding them back from running that up-tempo Cinci style offense. Remember how limited Tony Pike was athletically? Very similar to Rees yet ran that offense very well.

You can spread the field with an arm and/or your legs. Pike had an arm, Rees has neither

Bingo.

Rees was talented, but not a big play QB. He played his role for the most part well, but when he got in trouble, was when his competitive nature took over. Cant blame the kid for trying to make plays and doing what most would do with any type of drive, but at the sametime he knew his limitations and constantly pushed them. He isnt a kid thats going to the seam route consistently, but he tried to hit it. I have no problem trying to make plays every now and then, but he just picked bad times to take shots.

Pike had a cannon. He could hit the seam, and the deep out.

On Barnett. According to a guy that is close to the Cali QB situation, Rosen plays with 15+ D1 players, Brady White plays with 7+, and Barnett had 1 on his team and he only played safety. Put Barnett on either one of those teams, and he looks even better than he does now. He was the leading rusher on his team and he missed two games.....that shouldnt happen at a HS level. If Blake can put together a solid Senior year, I think it will be a true showing of how good he really is.

there a lot of talk about not to worry about this kid but it doesnt seem like he made it very clear to UM that he wants nothing to do with them.

If he wants to come to ND he will, if he doesn't he won't. No need getting all worked up about it... especially a year before NSD

I fear you underestimate the kid's value to the '15 class and the program over the next few years.

The flip side would be, how do you know what he has said to them in private?

Does anybody not love this kid as a recruit? Seems to me that we are extremely high on him.

Yeah, when you go back to the OP... I remember at first being like "What? Who is this guy?" then I watched his highlights and was like "uhhh.... wow......"
