Can't believe Hue Jackson would just totally forget about Andy Dalton when making those comments. Dalton is a physical specimen with a laser-rocket arm.

Also, Hue's gonna be really good for Kizer. If Kizer doesn't turn into a quality NFL QB, it's because he simply doesn't have the traits to throw an accurate ball. It won't be from a lack of support, or from the Browns ruining his development.

take off your ground beef and melted cheddar tinted glasses brah

It's funny how different fanbases look at things differently. To me, as a non-Bengals fan, I don't really understand any Dalton hate from your fanbase. Dude is a pretty damn good QB and close to 2/3's of the league would trade you today. So sarcasm regarding him sucking is gonna go over a lot of people's heads, imo.

Now Cutler on the other hand...

You guys need to appreciate him more. Can't believe you let him get away.

Meh - he is a former QB...

They've figured it out in Cleveland...Kelly is a sh-tty coach.

I should add that in addition to covering the Browns for the Plain Dealer Lesmerises also covers OSU. He knows what a competently run and well-coached college football program looks like.

OSU's offense was trash last year. The difference is they put an elite defense on the field.

Hopefully Long/Elko solve some issues on both sides of the field, that way if things don't go well one way, we can lean on the other unit.

OSU went 11-2 last year. And that was considered a bad year.

Dude people are going to defend Kelly (Stockholm Syndrome), he is here for this season and likely beyond. Hope he figures it out(tigers don't change their stripes ) what he did wrong and we have a smashing success of a season!

As the sage put it, "Get Use to it".

Yeah, and?

I'm saying their offense was trash, so referencing them in an article about ND's offensive issues last year is dumb, while also noting that our hopes moving forward rest with our new coordinators.

OSU could go undefeated and it would be a bad year. Fans would say the undefeated season should have happened the previous year.

Sadly we use be that way, you know, had high exceptions of Notre Dame. Now we strive to be 9 win team.

If we just won a single national title, I wouldn't complain about anything, period, for like ten years.

I would be fulfilled for quite some time.

I still make high exceptions for Notre Dame. Last year we were 4-8 and I made an exception for Kelly because he made a lot of difficult offseason moves.

Wait, did you mean expectations?

Okay, you say that now. But once you get the taste of victory you will always push to return to it. Easy to say when we're so far from a championship level team.

I don't know your age but I have experienced ND as a power. What we have now is pathetic.

The fact that they went 11-2 even with a lousy offense tells you something about the quality of their coaching. And the fact that 11-2 is considered a bad season, while we considered 10-3 a good season, tells you about different standards from both OSU fans and people inside their program.

Anyway, my original point stands. Someone who has covered OSU knows what an elite program looks like. Whatever he sees when he looks at ND, he definitely doesn't see that.

It's a good sign because those of us who are Browns fans and ND fans need to educate the mostly OSU fan Browns fanbase. Kizer was not the reason we went 4-8.

Really? That is what you got... Sorry, point stands and I will be more careful about word choice (just got through finals, so cut me some slack).

I'm 26, so I have yet to witness anything "great." Probably why I'd be content with just one season to celebrate to the full extent, and also probably why I'd be considered a "Pollyanna" by others... I haven't been around for the true highs, so I'm not made insufferable by the "lows."

But you're probably right. "Once it hits the lips, it's so good!"

I will sleep soundly knowing that I'm still not as miserable as you.

I'm not trying to put you on the spot, but I'm curious as to whom you would have hired to replace Kelly last year. Assuming that Saban/Meyer would not have left for all of the money Malpass could throw at them. I'll take an answer via PM if you'd prefer

To the contrary, happiness is achieved through freedom from desiring worldly things. Such as a national title. Once you accept it will never happen, you no longer desire it. And then you can be happy.

Are you happy? You seem to have accepted that greatness will never happen, and yet you pollute our board with your miserable outlook nearly every day. Perhaps take your own advice, and quit informing us of impending doom at any opportunity.

Please, go be with your like-minded miserable folk at the shadow place.

Spoiler alert: you will have an unfulfilled life.

We're 1-1 on National Titles in my life.

You are a miserable human being, so maybe you are just speaking in general, like.... you think everyone will have an unfulfilled life or something.

Cheer up, bucko.

You are older than me. Like IrishLion, I'm also 26. We're 0-1 and I can't say I see titles on the horizon.

Maybe it is good that ND fans have low expectations, though. Remember:

Happiness = reality - expectations

If you've seen the reality lately, it makes sense to lower the expectations.

I'm definitely happy. As for miserable outlook, I'm expressing my opinion about ND football. If you look at my comments about other sports (e.g. men's and women's BB, hockey, lacrosse) I don't have a miserable outlook at all. My outlook is based on the evidence about the football program.

We both know this isn't true. Doesn't matter the topic (politics, NFL, society, Notre Dame, etc), you are predictably always presenting the darkest of opinions. It isn't an "evidence based observation", it's your mantra. Pretty sad actually.

Brian sounds like he believes he has only fallen below EXPECTATIONS once in his ND career.
"I use the analogy, if you're a really good hitter and you're in the major leagues and you have one year when you fall below, you make a couple of adjustments, you take some BP, you have a good offseason and you start hitting again"

ND is quite okay with 8-5, 9-4 is what this tells me. If he feels he has only failed once.

Well, my views on politics and society aren't that uncommon. I would say I'm a realist. As for the NFL, I'm a Browns fan as I mentioned. And we've been over Notre Dame. In the past year, the collective record of the football teams I follow closely was 5-23.

My happiness is not based on any of these things. It has more to do with my personal life, my family, friends, faith, etc.

Maybe being a Cleveland fan has something to do with this. I know what to expect. (Nobody chooses to be a Cleveland fan, it is just something that you are.) That's why the Cavs title was so exciting: I expected nothing, and got something!

So not having bad expectations makes one unhappy?

I knew Gant wasn't coming to ND, and that the Packers weren't drafting Kizer. I'm happy, I'm just not wrong about things.
