I know Ball is slated for OLB but I personally prefer him at the hybrid DOG/Safety

My take on the recruitment of the safety/linebacker hybrid position:

We have now taken 2 low 3 star former QBS (Ball and Baratti) and asked them to play a hybrid position that they really haven't played before

Knowing this is a position that will: not be on the field most of the time, recruiting a high profile guy for it makes no sense

The staff wants to mold high football IQ and flexible players for the position

whether or not he is simply covering it up so people wont make a big deal about it, this is still GREAT news for us. I wouldnt mind having Ball as one of the 4 LBs (I believe we will get 4) of the class.

I'm still surprised he hasn't committed yet.

I wonder if the Jaylon Smith commit scared him at all, since he and Jaylon are both DOG types. Maybe he is worried that he'll never get a real shot at being a starter. Hope not; Jaylon's good enough to move around so I don't know if any such fear would be justified anyway.

Trust me it has nothing to do with Smith getting on board. There are multiple factors in this situation. He loved his time while at ND just has a lot to think about and consider. He wont be deciding soon and will take all 5 officials. ND has to sell him on some things to get back on top....

"something's" are things that people know close to the situation and dont want to put a kids business out there for everyone, just trust me the smith commitment helped if anything. Just believe me in that this recruitment will take a little while because he is coming on the scene late with all the offers and he is a very very humble kid and is trying to do what is best for him and his family.
