I like to see ND guys do well, but I'll never start really cheering for their team.

I hope Z Martin and Jaylon are superstars though. Big fan of them.

Yeah, I hope that Jaylon has 2 picks, 2 forced fumbles/fumble recoveries, 7 sacks, and 20 tackles a game. Zack Martin is a perennial Pro-Bowler that is recognized for just mailing guys. But then Zeke and Dak have 7 turnovers a game and lose. The Cowboys are the team that you either hate or love in the NFL in my eyes, followed closely by the Patriots.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Former ND LB Jaylon Smith, who had a loss of value policy with insurer ISI, has been paid about $850K for slipping in the 2016 Draft.</p>— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) <a href="https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/836275204745740289">February 27, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

And this was the original reporting:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Jaylon Smith's insurance will pay him $700K tax free if he falls out of 1st round, gets $100K w/each missed pick after. Policy from ISI.</p>— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) <a href="https://twitter.com/darrenrovell/status/703637702416138240">February 27, 2016</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

So the $850k is about $50k short of what the expected number would've been from the initial report, but still in the ballpark. Really hope Jaylon can show what he can do this year.

Lucky for me, I have never been a big NFL guy, so I don't have the rooting interest that I have in ND. Instead I tend to root for my Fantasy Team, then NFL guys

In Superbowl I rooted for Pats cuz I wanted to see Floyd get a ring, even if he wasn't playing

He's currently at about 80% and the plan this whole year has been to train and get familiar wearing the brace. So even though that doesn't sound that great, it was pretty much the plan the entire time.

It really stinks that we may never see his full potential in the NFL.

He can still have a successful career, but there will always be the "what if..."

Jones hinted at positive news regarding Smith's nerve issue that has the franchise believing he can play at an elite level, "sooner rather than later."

Much more helpful than what Rapoport put out there for HEADLINE TWEETS.

I don't know that I agree. There have been "hints" of his nerve firing for a couple months but each time those reports come out, they seem to be shot down. This again is just way too vague.

I am truly hopeful that the nerves do regenerate, but I don't have a lot of confidence based on the reports that have come out.

I am curious. I know that most of the reports that have come out about the nerve regeneration have come from Jaylon, and his ever positive attitude, but where have they been shot down as not accurate? I would like to hear a doctor that has actually been a part of Jaylon's process say that his improving, but that will not happen. And while I don't know about Rappaport's sources, I have a hard time believing that Jaylon, the Jones or the doctors would put out that the nerve was not refiring. Again, not disagreeing with you, but wondering where you saw that reports of the regeneration have been shot down?

I can't speak to this particular situation, but I had surgery that required the cutting and reattachment of nerves. It took right at a year before things were close to normal. Within a couple more months I was 99%. It will happen when it happens.

I was curious to where all this noise is coming from and the timing of it too. I didn't ask today, but I can confirm that it is true that the nerve isn't firing yet and they don't even know when/if it will at this point. He is playing next year barring any set backs at this point. It'll be great to see him on the field again but I'm hoping he can get back to close as possible as the old Jaylon athletically.

Agreed that cheap mother fucker

Cheap shot mother f-er deserves some karma.

Could not dislike him more if he had gone to Michigan. And F*ck them too.

Thank you guys for agreeing with me.

A lot of people didn't see that as a cheap shot. But I disagree. I know the whistle had not blown. But They were 10 yards from the play, Jaylon was getting up from off the ground when Decker pushed him. There was no reason for that. But we all know Decker wanted to punish Jaylon, because Jaylon was Jaylon. The best LB in college football. The best player on Notre Dame. So he wanted to punish Jaylon. And it ruined Jaylon's career. Karma will come back to bite you Taylor Decker...don't you worry.

If I had twitter I would retweet those tweets at Taylor and ask him something: "How do you feel now big shot...ruining a great kids career, who stuck to his commitment to Notre Dame. And didn't go on his word and runaway like you!

I did get the feeling after that play and the way it happened that the plan was to neutralize Smith in any way possible as the key to Notre Dame's defense. Kinda how Navy plays within the rules but really nasty dirty and above all distracting to the defensive player-thus he's either gone from the game or worrying about his %$#. In the old days a punch in the mouth took care of many such ploys today ------you're also gone.
