Ummm Im pretty positive he is going to stick. If you watched the video, he is a "school first, football second" kind of guy.

He said it perfectly himself "When you go on a visit, you have to take football out of the picture"

He can tell he is a leader and great to have him in this class.

It is my character that separates me. What a great quote.

See the difference between confidence and arrogance? Jaylon is the total package. What a great day to be Irish.

Two "once in a decade" linebackers in 5 years. Thank god Teo counts against last decade :D

Welcome Jaylon!

Edit: Just watched the video, kid is articulate. He pretty much summed up most top recruits when he talked about needing to work on their character. Seems like a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. Haven't been this excited for a recruit since Darby.

ISD Video: Jaylon Smith Commitment

watch that or else

Thanks, Bud!

I learned three things from this video:

Jaylon knows he has real, high character;

Jaylon isn't afraid of speaking his mind and he knows who doesn't have high character, like when he jailsexed the OSU coaching staff, (how great was that!);

And did you notice when his birthday was? Yeah, that's right, another Flag Day Super Star!

New list:

DSully1995 2nd;

Bobias 3rd;

Just kidding NDPhilly 4th;

AvesEvo 5th;

My second son's is the 6th;

Flying Alamo is the 7th;

My oldest son is the 21st.

I missed someone, and who else qualifies?

Bogs is the 14th;

Oh, yeah, Jaylon Smith Rivals: Overall #4, #1 OLB, June 14th, baybee! - Happy Birthday!

"Notre Dame isn't for everybody... it all depends on what you want out of life"

I have been following Notre Dame recruiting for a long time, and I haven't been more excited about a recruit (yes... this includes Gunner).

Welcome Jaylon. This is a decision is one you will be happy with the rest of your life.

Please rush me to the emergency room, unless you have those paddles with you. Then I will just swallow them . . .

Kid is impressive

Who in the **** is that first reporter that talks about how Notre Dame hasn't had any good players in the recent history? That dude can kiss my @ss. If he thinks that he can't look at the kids that have came through here recently and pull some great players, then that's idiotic.

Look at the NFL, last time I checked... Justin Tuck is doing pretty well. Manti is a high first round pick. Pair that with the fact that Notre Dame always give their players a successful future on or off the field... we deserve more respect than that.

Jaylon answered it perfectly... but sh!t... you don't hear reporters asking those type of questions to kids committing to Oregon, Arizona State or Clemson. Why the vitrol against a school that cares about their student athletes as much as Notre Dame.

Somebody tell me who that reporter is, I would like to send them an email detailing how much of a dbag he is.

@Jaylon - Don't fret, my man. You are a man among boys. Tell that reporter that he can come talk crap to you when he is struggling to make ends meet and you are finishing your NFL career and starting your own business worth millions. F* him.

"Every (Notre Dame) coach has the same stand character wise," Smith said. "Other coaches tell you what you want to hear, and I saw that with my brother."

Rivals has his high school GPA at 2.9?? Jaylon seems much smarter than a 2.9.. he must not care too much about the pettiness of high school (I mean this in a good way lol.. I have a couple friends who have very high IQs and did well on the SATs that just absolutely hated high school and couldn't care less about grades, lol).. Jaylon seems much more intelligent, sophisticated and mature than a typical high school student.. that 2.9 GPA just kind of threw me off, when he talks, you'd think he was at least a 3.7 GPA kind of kid..

Despite all of the recent drama, the last three classes (should this class hold together and maintain its current trajectory) are shaping up to be great.

He may only have a 2.9, but it's a 2.9 from a high quality, high character school.

Betting he brings in two stud recruits himself. Can you get any better spokesperson to go out and sell ND? Still smiling. I'm almost done wetting myself, but will be smiling for another day or so.

Yesterday:

It's Jay! Yesterday I was operating a mini-excavator, Bobcat, just another phase in my house restoration project, then at 6:30PM I got the whole family together, took 'em out for Mexican, and jumped into a 44 oz margarita. Believe me I tosted all you guys! I thought of each and every one of you, and randomly laughed out loud. No one else understood! "Just wanted to check in and say whata day man!!! Sh1t was crayyyyyyyy. At the bar having a couple for us. Love ya bro. June going to be a great month."

Later yesterday:

wait wait waitttttttttttttttttt. did i just witness my man Wooly saying he is more excited about Jaylon than Gunner?

The real deal and the real shiit cray, yesterday:

Quote:
"Every (Notre Dame) coach has the same stand character wise," Smith said. "Other coaches tell you what you want to hear, and I saw that with my brother."

oh, snap...

I hope all the Kelly haters that doubt his recruiting abilities are eating crow for breakfast! This class is going to be very good and what makes them great is their attitudes and closeness as a group. Jaylon will be the guy in that class that this group will look up to,aka "Manti". There are no premadonas in this class like last year that I can see. This is our year to flip 5* players at the end of the recruiting cycle after the all star games when they want to play with Jaylon and his band of brothers that are about to change ND football and make them elite once again.

All Iknow is that the sun is a little brighter today and so is ND football!

Awesome! But don't short change Malik Zaire; he is a pretty powerful leader! Corey Robinson isn't far behind, either. My point is to add to your post. We have at least five guys out of 13 that have unquestionable leadership qualities, and are great salesmen, too. AND, they all posess the ability to put others first. The work well with others!

This is a quality kid that we just picked up...who also happens to be a VERY good young football player.

Welcome to the family Jaylon!!!

Glad to have him aboard!

The kid seems to get what ND is all about. Loved to hear how aware he was of the fact (most) ND athletes graduate with real degrees. Hopefully other recruits will take notice (much more influential coming from peers than coaches or parents).

It's pretty freakin great to wake up and know that this kid is comming here!

The difference in Jaylon vs the kids that changed their tune over the last couple years is night and day. I'll tell ya if this kid doesn't get what ND is about, nobody does! Great kid and I couldn't be more thrilled to cheer for him!

Imagine how much easier Jaylon, Zaier,Robinson, and company will make recruiting for the coaches.. There is still alot of needs we need to fill but it helps to be able to market the talent and the kind of kids thats coming to ND as well as a "OK" education. Kelly and company have to be licking their chops!
