There are some great CBs who are 6'2" or 6'3": Nnamdi Asomugha, Antonio Cromartie, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Sean Smith all come to mind. I think having a guy with that type of size and range is awesome! He may grow into a FS at some point, but I feel like he still has the skill necessary for CB

Sorry to go OT but DRC sucked dick last year. That is all.

I'm somewhat ignorant about the CB position so can someone explain why some think 6'2"-6'3" is too tall for a corner. If the kid's hips are fluid, he can stick to the hip of his receiver, and has great instincts, why wouldn't you want him to play corner not matter his height. The way I see it is it takes away the jump ball and just adds more upside to the CB by increasing his range. A little insight would be greatly appreciated.

Usually it's because they assume they won't be fluid enough to stay with certain receivers in man coverage... like imagine someone who's 6'3" trying to stick with a Wes Welker, unless they're an ultra athlete they'd have a lot of trouble handling how quick he cuts. However, in zone it is far less of an issues... and with how tall receivers are now you're starting to see more and more big corners. Just like how someone 6'3" might have trouble with Welker, someone 5'10" is going to have a LOT of trouble with Calvin Johnson.

Those were my thoughts exactly, especially the Megatron part. Thanks Lax.

I know they are both 6'1", but I sure would prefer someone Butler's size to cover Robert Woods or Hemingway than a smaller dude. I say we keep Butler at CB.

Ran a 4.64 in the 40 (most of the times have been kinda slow, ppl. saying it is a chilly morning)

EE's were okay. And JS's were slightly better. Must be a conspiracy against ND recruits.

Jesus Christ... I hope he can turn out a better 40 time than that. I don't put a ton of stock into 40 times but that is way to slow for a D1 cornerback...

OMG calm down! That time is faster than what Robert Blanton ran at the NFL combine.

It's not always bad to be in last place. Here's some things we can focus on: One, we tried hard. And two, we're still dear friends!

Tee Shepard, former 5:s: CB, ran a 4.61 40 at The Opening last year.

Very good point! He may not have Deion Sanders speed, but as a rising HS senior (who may have never been taught how to properly run a 40) I'm not too concerned.

Thanks guys, I think I got a little spazzed out there... 40 speed and football speed are two different things I know.

Remember this is laser timed.

Right now he is exactly what we expected: a tall, system, solid 3 star CB. We need to build depth and this is the kind of kid who does that. He isn't going to start as a freshman but he has a lot of potential and fits the mold.

This is why I made a big deal out of forty times on the Jaylon Smith thread. See? All this could have been averted X5!

Will get a bump to 4 stars on 247 soon per Wiltfong. Good frame; needs to get stronger.

Devin did an interview on rivals site, it was the first time I had seen him speaking on camera, and let me tell you he is really a bright guy. Full of energy, outgoing, respectful and witty. I can clearly see why these guys are so tight knit. Every one that I have seen interviewed or heard stories about are the kinds of young men you would want your son to grow up to be like. This class is really a special group of young men.
