Would be nice if he actually told the public of these reasons. Seriously the Secrets of Fatima has nothing on this.

Rumors about nd with recruiting violations regarding vanderdoes on rivals....not sure what they are. probably just bs

Ha.... yeah, i'm sure we wouldn't have blocked his release like we did if we had something to hide. Furthermore, and I hate that this is the reality, even if we did the ncaa wouldn't do a damn thing (disclamer - I DO NOT think we did anything wrong in his recruitment). Finally, if anybody is guilty of recruiting violations, its Mora and UCLA. I think it is pretty obvious that they continued to recruit a signed player.

Anybody know if Vanderdoes' trainer has been hired at UCLA yet?

+1

I don't think ND would block him if they had something to hide. Like Carlisle and USC.

Anyone else see this idiot Spanky on Twitter arguing with Davidson making ND look horrible?

I know that douche well. He posts on ISD and we've gotten into 2 times via PM over the sh!t he says online. He told a reporter a few months back that he should die because of something anti-ND the reporter said. I mean, really?

He was banned a couple years back under the name "God's General." Everyone knew what a complete prick he was. He came back under the handle 'spanky' and no one knew. But I know a few of the mods and they told me who he really was when he was spouting off. We had a $500 bet that he (predictably) welched on.

He was even given a short vacation recently from the site for harrassing a member and then a bagging on mod, and quit the site 'forever' (sound familiar anyone?) only to predictably come back weeks later. If you are on twitter, let everyone know that ND fans KNOW what a douche he is. Also, call him God's General...it flips him out LOL.

Rumors about nd with recruiting violations regarding vanderdoes on rivals....not sure what they are. probably just bs

This came from the USC site, because one of their mods said: "a rumor was going around for a couple months that ND may have committed some violations during his recruitment. UCLA found out about what went down and basically forced their hand in having to release him from his LOI. One of the allegations was that ND put his coach and his family up in some house just off campus rent free for a while. UCLA has been pretty confident they'd get him cleared to play right away, and this was supposedly why."

Now, how does this make ANY sense??? Soooooo, ND committed violations and were forced to release him from his LOI, but still didn't let him out of his LOI anyway and fought it with the NCAA. And then EV loses the first appeal, even though violations were made. And then EV wins the appeal because violations were made, but ND faces ZERO punishment. AND Vanderdoes and his family received benefits and yet he is still cleared to play despite breaking his LOI? WTF????

It's all bs. Mike Frank wrote a post last night calming people down and saying from EVERYONE he has talked to ND did nothing wrong and EV just had a change of heart. He said the same thing at his ISD lunch last week...it was just a change of heart with some major help from UCLA people in EV's dad's ear.

I hope Eddie's major at UCLA is Poly Sci with a future in politics. Few other professions are as good at avoiding glaring questions this long.

its easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission

I am hoping you meant this in a facetious manner, based upon the thread it is in, as an indictment of the general lack of integrity in all these things. If not I really don't mean anything toward you personally.

It is only easer for someone with no empathy or scruples to ask for forgiveness than permission. People with character, pay a deep price when asking for forgiveness. It is tied up with honor and loyalty.

Me to girl at bar:

"Do you want to get out of here?"
"No"

(20 min later)

"Come on, let's go grab a drink at my place."
"NO!"

(20 min later)

"How about that night cap?"
"Okay!"

...If the NCAA ruled the world....

Perfect analogy.

This is an excellent article and a great read. Speaking of great reads, anyone who hasn't read Slaughterhouse 5, should!

The thing that really bothers me:

Davonte Neal, who I am not thrilled with, transfers to be closer to his daughter - he loses a year of eligibility;

Jamoris Saughter asks for an extra year of eligibility because of horrific injury, but because a past admin didn't do the paperwork right - he loses a year of eligibility;

Everett Golson, who I am not thrilled with, does something that may not even make his record at another university - he loses a year of eligibility;

Eddie, wants to be near his grandma maybe, - (OF COURSE) he does not lose a year of eligibility;

Hell just to continue it on to his logical conclusion, Manti played through his grandma's death, and because of other unrelated issues that transpired, was made the sacrificial cow of the football nation. Fvck the NCAA; Fvck the college fan base; Fvck the media; and all I can say is those with integrity and character will win in the long run. I hope I am around to celebrate the @sshats getting curb-stomped!

Man, show some class, EV. He claims that the change of heart was over a family's illness, and he's having nothing but fun on Twitter with this announcement right now. What about your poor, ailing grandma? Shouldn't you be tweeting something about the opportunity to spend the next 4 years close to her? He's not handling this in a mature fashion at all. Kinda glad this shmuck isn't suiting up for us now, UCLA can have him.

Awful lot of guests in the thread :rolleyes: When can we expect the UCLA trolls?

This is why Kelly takes three stars, and makes four, four to fives, and selectively builds on fives. Some fives think they are above the rules. You can't build them in a "team first" environment. The funny thing is that if you teach a kid that way, he excels for the rest of his life. Watch the ND numbers that succeed in the NFL in the next couple years!

What did Nix say?

I wouldn't say he called him out, but I think he noticed the arrogant tweets and suggested he tone it down here and let his play on the field do the talking.

Didn't Big Lou change his number for Eddie?

The NCAA never ceases to amaze me with their incompetence. We might as well start handing out bags of money to recruits. Hell, we have the resources.

So Mora & Co. gets a big eff you from me. Eddie gets a disappointed sigh and a pat on the back. And the NCAA gets a derisive SMH.

This is where I'm at, though I'd invite Eddie's trainer, Jon Osterhout, and UCLA's DL coach, Angus McClure, to have intercourse with themselves as well. It's open season on signed recruits; tamper away! The inmates are running the asylum.

Nah he switched for jaylon

Also I hate reading these tweets, obviously the *** hats that are attacking EV, but I can't stand all the "best of luck from an ND fan" bullshit too, way to go dude, way to make sure everyone knows were not all idiots hoping EV blows out his knees.. The world now knows this because vanderdoes retweeted your well wishes and made a point to make it known its "coming from an ND fan"

I Don't wish the kid ill or good, just don't bother.

I know he's a kid, but the way he's handling it on twitter is definitely a bad look. Whatever. Enjoy nice weather and being a part of mediocre football teams.

Every fan base has some vocal deplorable idiots who mouth on social media when a recruit spurns their favorite program. Never seen Feldman comment publicly on it before, though. Looking back, he's been among the first to RT every negative rumor and insinuation about ND since the title game.

Between him and Gregggg Doyel, I might be done with CBS' CFB analysts. Lots of anti-ND bias.

What are "the 4 reasons"?

ps
i said it a year ago...never recruit a player who trademarks his twitter handle:
EV4tm

in regards to ncaa doing this:
might the release of eddys name as an ND pledge by ND prior to his announcement be one of the reasons he got off scott free here?
Was the premature ND release on LOI day morning done prior to him actually signing the LOI? Thats what i would want/like to know.

not that it matters but i could see him telling the ncaa: "i wanted to pick ucla but mean old ND had already announced (thru their paperwork) that i had signed with them and so i felt obligated to them/confused blablaablabla..."

I think this is a pretty insightful comment. The messed up press release I would assume was almost certainly one of the things cited by Eddy, if not in the main four reasons, but nonetheless a contributing factor that he pushed the committee to consider to let him off without the one-year penalty.

And that is an aspect of this I just cannot wrap my head around, not just with EV. You have been fawned over for years leading up to this point and are about to be pampered and revered by an entire fandom for the nex 4-30 years, why is the public annoucement such a thing?

Exactly Whiskey. What gets me about this is the veiled insinuation by this guy that it wouldn't be that way if it was another school, just because it is ND. Besides, if you're going to put yourself out there on Twitter and social media in general, especially if your a fairly known public figure like EV (at least in CFB), you better have your big boy pants on and be ready to take the good with the bad. There's no law saying he must be on Twitter, so just learn to deal with it or get off of it and quit yer bitchin' if someone hurts your feelings.

Was his grandma sick before signing his NLI? I still don't buy that as the reason, btw. Just curious.
