I don't see what the big deal is. It was clearly self defense. Aren't you supposed to fight back when you're being raped?

Not glad or happy about this at all as far as how it effects Eddie. Never good when a kid gets injured and I hope he recovers quickly and is back to 100% next year...after he goes pro hopefully.

BUT...I am glad that Mora doesn't have him as a weapon. He doesn't deserve a talent like Eddie. To me, that whole episode was on UCLA/Mora for being dirty and the NCAA for not enforcing it's own rules. I have no ill will towards Eddie...he just benefited from the NCAA's incompetence. And it makes me dislike Mora even more.

I do have ill will towards Eddie based on his second appeal, unless his reasons for leaving ND were the truth. First he says he grandma is sick, NCAA says that's not good enough and denies him. Then he comes out and says he's autistic and that's why he wants to transfer and play right away. Wouldn't you lead off with that if you're trying to get an appeal? It certainly felt like a last ditch effort, and I'm very surprised no one heard about his diagnosis of autism prior to the 2nd appeal. It very much felt like a lie, and a lie that doesn't sit very well in my house. If he told the truth, I take that all back and wish him good luck, but it seems fairly unlikely given the circumstances of his transfer and other factors.

1. He suffered the injury while helping celebrate a teammate's first career touchdown catch. According to the Times, Vanderdoes hurt his knee and collapsed after going to help up nose tackle Kenny Clark; Clark had just caught a touchdown on offense. After the game, coach Jim Mora said Vanderdoes' knee "locked up" earlier in the game, but he returned to action. anyway.

After the TD Eddie tried to lift Clark up by his armpits (much like how OL generally do with backs or receivers after TD's) and his knee buckled and he fell over. Clark is 310 lbs by the way

This is on Mora, although it was a freak accident.

The game was almost over, they were in total control of the game and they were playing on offense with Jack, Clark and Vanderdoes. What a joke.

Playing defensive guys on offense is pretty much part of their base though, especially on short yardage, goal line.

Eddie has a spectral disorder, some debate about which one. After doing some checking it seems as if he is very high functioning, and his parents are extremely close to the vest about it.

Parents have different ways of handling such issues. Some are extremely vocal about their kid's conditions, and use that to force consistent treatment by others in the face of different or unusual behavior on the part of their child.

Others hide the facts and hope their child can thrive with some anonymity, as far as the condition goes. This is done usually with the best of intentions. And it does lead to situations of conflict at times. I believe the whole Eddie situation was one of these.

It is easy to sit on judgment, but when you have a situation where you find out 60K worth of support that would be afforded by the government is not available at a private institution, most people are forced to find a good situation at a state school.

Did obfuscation and withholding details lead to a bad situation? Probably, and from both sides. But that doesn't make Eddie a bad guy.

Let alone gloating over an injury.

This would have been far better if Mora had gotten a concussion and big Eddie not been injured. Mora out-for the Season I can deal with.

I cringe when teams/players I like celebrate by jumping sky high bouncing into each other. It's like slow mo waiting for them to land just waiting to see if those ankles bend wrong way

Stephen Tulloch's was the worst to see, so cringeworthy

I don't follow UCLA. How significant is his loss?

Eddie was part of potentially the best D-tackle tandem in CFB with Kenny Clark. They have Matt Dickinson (former ND commit) waiting in the wings but obviously its a huge loss, Eddie is potentially All-American good

When I first saw that a Clark caught a touchdown for UCLA I was surprised Chris Clark made any type of impact. HA! It was a defensive lineman not the over-recruited TE! Too funny.

I hate to hear of anyone being out for the season because of an injury.

In my mind (and I could be wrong of course), I bet Eddie was just listening to whatever UCLA's staff was telling him to do and how to get around the transfer rules. He was a young kid and got sucked in to doing some unethical things by a dirty staff that did a good job of recruiting him and convincing him that this (meaning the whole situation where he left ND for UCLA) would all be ok AFTER they convinced him to come to UCLA AFTER singing with ND.

Just a young kid listening to a coach he likes and has a good relationship with and probably not aware of what he is doing is wrong. He was probably being told it's no big deal by Mora and co. It's like a student listening to a teacher they like. I just wish the NCAA would have stuck to it's guns and made him sit a year. If he wanted to leave, fine...just do it like everyone else has to after they sign their LOI.

Kid had mono throughout the Bruin's fall camp and missed a bunch of practices. Didn't record any stats vs Virginia, not sure if he played.

Impossible. He was going to win a Heisman at UCLA. The recruiting mailer said so.

Ha, I got into it with a random UCLA fan on Twitter when that video of Alize's catch started going around.

I noticed some UCLA fan tweeted something like "it's just practice, not impressive. And he's a drama queen, he won't be any good. Glad we got Clark."

I usually ignore shit like that, but I couldn't let this one go. I tweeted back that it was funny he was calling Jones a drama queen and then talking up Chris Clark in the same sentence. He was none too pleased lol.
