I agree that he may very well end up a TE but there is no way I turn him down the kid is a monster athlete thats not only tall and fast but he's quick. He's a massive mismatch at the the high D1 level let alone HS for a WR and so what if he ends up a TE, he's a great talent that shouldn't be turned away.

Sorry but your mistaken about the Kevin Durant body type, he's no string bean. Durant's thin, he's a string bean but Baldwin is much, much more muscular. Baldwin is build like the Miami Dolphins DE Jason Taylor who's in that 255 to 265 range and looks slim, they have a wiry build which makes them not look as nearly as big as they really are. I can see him playing WR at 240, btw he's already in the 225 to 230 range and like I said so what if he get's up to 260 without losing much speed and/or quickness he gives ND another stud TE but that's something for the staff to worry about later get the talent in now and see how it best works at the time. Like I said he may end up a TE but I'm sure he will see time as a WR atleast early in his career.

BTW, more and more people I talk to don't think Fauria will end up a TE because many of these people expect him to continue to grow and end up being closer to 6'10 rather than 6'8. They also think he will add alot of weight to go with that height and that he will out grow the position. He very vould end up a tackle which IMO would be a shame because he has awesome hands.

As I recall, Jason Taylor went to Univ of Akron......shameless plug

Interesting couple of pages on Baldwin, I'm confused too, but I know one thing for sure, I'll bet all of the best college coaches in the country are really happy to know that irishfan81 has advised them that they are all wrong in recruiting Baldwin as a WR.

There is probably a collective sigh of relief from coast to coast from all of these coaches now that they know they can recruit him as a Tight End, and since ND does not need any more Tight Ends, I'm sure CW has now closed the book on Baldwin based on irishfan81's advice.:pileof:

Boy, I'm sure glad he gave his OK for the Irish to continue recruiting Sabino. PHEW!! What a relief.

Thats what I was saying about Baldwin

..........And too ease everybodies confusion the 6'10 thing with :jerkit: was me just saying ok whatever to the assumption of somebody saying Faruias going to be 6'10:talktohan and be an offensive lineman. I just can't think of any college lineman or TE's being 6'10, but Fauria will be the first one.

the tallest lineman at this years nfl scouting combine was chase johnson at 6'8.5". In my opinion, the best OT in the country next year will be scUM's Jake Long and rivals list him at 6'7". Any taller than that, and you would think you would lose some coordination and quickness, but if you didn't, I say the bigger the better.

Ok, let's all try to play nice and get back on topic. This is Johnathan's thread after all.

I've said the samething but as I've listened, talked , read and watched it seems like many expect Fauria to continue to grow and some don't expect that to change very soon.

He's already pushing 6'8 and it thats the case about him grwoing in height he will most likely pack on the weight as well and because of that some think he will end up a OT.

I didn't say that he will end up being 6'10 but rather being closer to being 6'10 than to being 6'8.

Sure it's an inch difference but what I was implying is that if this does indeed happening then it will be more and more likely that he would end up an OT rather than TE.

Do I want this to happen and have him a OT rather than a TE? No hence the reason I said it would be a shame to have his pass catching ability wasted.

But remember this is Baldwin's thread and the point I was making that confused some is that it would be stupid to pass on Baldwin because he might outgrow being a WR and become TE because ND already has loads of talent at TE and the reason to mention Fauria is that many that see him play on a fairly regualr basis say the same can happen to him and now there is one less at TE that we thought ND would have.

Thats the point, nothing is a given and that if he can outgrow or change position so can others but you worry about that when the time comes because it might not, you bring in good people with great talent and let the chips fall where they may.

Point taken, but it bothers me and alot of people when a guy hasn't even signed his LOI yet and your putting 2-3 inches on him and moving him to OT. Kind of how people want to move Ragone to WR. Just let them play their position.

I get where your coming from and I bitch about it myself I was just trying to make the what if point out of what some people out in California that know Fauria are talking about to combat the point that some here suggest Baldwin might have to move to TE. I wish I could explain myself or my point better but all that I was doing was taking what I' m hearing elsewhere and applying it to fit this argument to show that it is very possible that he may be right and that Baldwin will make the move to TE but that it's just as plausible as to Fauria to move to OT. It's not like I just said anybody out of the blue and also gave the a position switch I used Fauira because not only is it as plausible as Baldwin moving from WR to TE but plenty of football people believe this is what will happen. To me it's mute point as of now and I agree for the most part because it does bother to be moving players around and so on but in some case it's applicable.

I really hope we land Baldwin. Picture this ...

After 3 or 4 plays in a row of Aldridge and Hughes ramming the ball down your throat, you suddenly see the Irish break the huddle for the next play.

Empty backfield ... two TE set with Furia to the left, Rudolph to the right ... trips right with Kamara, Goodman and, lets say Baldwin if all goes well ...

You are a 5-11 CB lined up across the line staring at the new South Bend skyline. You are living a nightmare. Sure, your 6-0 safety will cheat over to try and help. Maybe, if you are lucky, you might be able to jam a couple of these guys at the line. On the right side, that leaves two giant receivers to run free. Will they go long? They might, because all of these guys can stretch the field. Even with LB help, you will be chasing someone from behind. Will they go short? Perhaps. All these receivers can use their bodies to screen you out and make the catch. And, when that happens, the other big receivers will be there to deliver a crushing block in the open field to spring them. Let's not forget that you have the most accurate QB to come out of HS in the past decade or so to deliver the ball in the perfect spot. You, my friend are getting ready to be on the wrong side of a highlight reel. That very well could be the reality of the ND offense in two or three years. This is some exciting stuff.

I don't think too many people seriously took the Pitt/ND Top 2 rumor too seriously, although you can't really see the source for this rumor either. However, Baldwin from the beginning has always been thought of as favoring Michigan the most. The key for ND is to be in his Top 2, even if it is with Michigan, when the time comes for him to decide. The Irish seem to be doing pretty well in those head to head competitions thus far this year.

At this point doesn't that mean he's a ND lock then? HAHAHA!

LOL- Baldwin dropped six schools in less than 7 hours. No one has dropped anything that fast since ABC dropped Rosie, or since the last time Rosie took a :crap:.

It's because he has a top "6" of those remaining 10 teams, but could only think of 4 of his top 6 which pretty much tells you those other ones probably aren't in the best position with him.

Could be another skunkbear/Irish battle. He quit his AAU basketball team to concentrate on football, which means he has his mind now set on what sport he wants to play in college. That does not bode well for Pitt, and it seems that a kid like Baldwin who was very impressed with the ND campus when he visited last month, would not fall for the Poodle storyline. So that would leave ND & Michigan again. Can Irish lightning strike again? Probably need to get him back on campus for an Official Visit in the Fall to have any real chance here. We shall see.
