To this point I still think he is the most exciting recruit out there. I hate to beat a dead horse in the form of numbers but just to get a perspective on what could be:
Coming out of High School per Rivals:
Calvin Johnson:
Ht: 6'4"
WT: 210
Forty: 4.44
Vertical: 36"
Bench: 250 lbs
Jonathan Baldwin:
Ht: 6'6"
WT: 225
Forty: 4.40
Vertical: 43" (From the Scout article)
Bench: 320 lbs
Even if the nubers are completely correct, which I doubt, there is more to it than that. Johnson has absolutely great hands, plus a WR needs to learn how to adjust his body during the route and in the air to shield the defender from the ball, especially the big recievers. All on top of knowing which route to run in the first place or when to break it off, and then going out and doing it. I've heard from Rick Mirer's best friend that, that was actually one of Keyshawn Johnson bigger problems. Announcers on TV would sit around and critizie the QB's for not finding Johnson because he was wide open, but what they didn't know is that he often ran the wrong route, so the QBs often didn't have any idea where he was on the field. One crucial play during a Monday night game while they were both on the Jets comes to mind, but that's mostly because I hear about it the next day during Tues's afternoon practice.
Hey, Scoop, I'm going to be on campus this weekend too. Maybe I'll run into Baldwin at the Grotto and give him some good advice on why he should come to ND. Have any suggestions?
I am of course, just kidding.
Give him one of the bricks that fell from the basillica. He'll think it's divine intervention.
One of his assistant coaches went with him.
He's looking for an eduation first and foremost. His number one goal is to graduate.
Maybe that is why he's looking at ND a little harder. He was in attendance at the PSU game back in September.

"I saw everything I expected to see. I’m still going to go on the rest of my unofficials, but I was pretty impressed with what I saw here. I’m going to go to Ohio State and another school that’s close to home
Also, remember that the story is from Pittsburgh, so saying that Pitt is the leader right now does not mean much.
