Lets see here ever since I was one day old my uncle is a alumni and my dad is a huge Notre Dame fan. We are always watchin the Irish play we are probrably the biggest Irish fans of all. When I was born my dad got me a kid size jersey and a couple of T-shirts and a football. Lou Holtz even got me a signed letter when I was born from the team which my uncle had him do for me. And now look at me the biggest Irish fan ever. In my room I've got 2 walls filled with old time Irish players like Golic, Brown, Rocket, Zorich every body. Autographs figurines off of irishlegends.com. And in my closet I've got 5 jerseys I've got a authentic Brady, Shark, Darius, Zibby and Tim Brown throwback and 10 T-shirts. I love the Irish. I've never missed a game in my life.

first home game i went to was in 2002 (5th grade) ND.vs.Michigan which was a thriller 25-23, then you get this year barry gallup jr coming out of my home town which has given me a real favorite player to root for, also want to be a sports journalist so ND gives me a good team to write about (not one yet, just hope to be one one day)

I remember when gallup21 first started posting here, we were all wondering if it was THE Barry Gallup. If gallup21 was in 5th grade 4 years ago, I think it is safe to assume that this is not Barry Gallup.

And to think, I was going to ask gallup21 for his autograph.

My dad played football there back in the late 60's - early 70's so i basically didn't have a choice to root for anyone else other than the blue and gold.

Well I'm irish born & bred here & when i first started following American Football it just seemed like the right fit

Cool. Are there any sports-bars or anything that carry games over there?..because trying to follow Celtic over here without Setanta is an absolute bitch.

Once again, Notre Dame is a special place. I cant explain the passion that I or the rest of my family has for ND. And I'm sure there're people reading this in the same fanatic way! We are Notre Dame, we are The Irish! That's why we are different! -Don
Up until this past Monday, I'd never visited the campus during the summer. As soon as I turned onto Notre Dame Avenue and saw the dome through the canopy of trees that line the street, I said to myself "God, I love this place." Every time I stop for a visit (which is usually a game weekend), I give myself another kick in the ass for not being more motivated with regard to making an attempt to go to school there.

Both of my sons attended their first game in '05 (Navy)....one is 8, the other 14. They had to listen to me ask them repeatedly if they had any idea how lucky they were to see a home game at such a young age (I waited until I was about 30). But it sunk in...before we'd left to head back East, they already spotted a Catholic elementary school and pitched me on the idea of moving to the area.

I've often said that, unlike most people who move to Fla or Az for retirement, I'd sooner go to the South Bend area,

I feel like he's really close to my heart then, and i can kinda feel like he's sittin' next to me watching the games with me. It's the one thing that no matter what, no one can take away. God he loved Notre Dame.

And don't forget, that every time you to sit to down to watch his beloved ND, he knows that you're thinking of him and he's smiling down on his little boy.

Both of my Irish parents are Irish Catholic. I grew up in an irish Catholic neighborhood. We belonged to an Irish Catholic parish -- St. Brigid's. We went to church every Sunday at 9 a.m. to get home in time to catch Lindsey Nelson's tape-delayed highlights. I remember watching these highlights when Theisman was throwing to Gatewood. I've been an Irish fan ever since.

for the underdog

for the underdog

In the mid 80s when Faust was coach, I remember them being a huge underdog. I can't remember who they were playing, but they won. It started then, in high school, but grew into the monster it has become during my first duty assignment in the USAF. I was stationed at Homestead AFB, FL and began dating a student at UM. I got to sit in the student section of the Canes routing for the Irish in 87. (luckily I had a lot of big friends with me, all UM students) Unfortunately they lost that game, but returned the favor the next year and won the National Championship. I've been all about ND football ever since. I was lucky enough to go to the Air Force game in Colorado Springs a couple years ago when my brother-in-law was still a cadet there. This year, (or should I say next year) I plan to go see them on January 8th at the Cardinal's new stadium when they play for the National Championship again. I only live about 8 or 9 miles from the stadium!! I just hope they're not playing ASU (since I'm a 38 year old college student) Go Irish!!

I Hated Notre Dame!

I Hated Notre Dame!

... Well, that’s going over board, I just didn't care for ND. I've always heard about the "magic" at Notre Dame, but it wasn't until the '93 FSU game, that I experience that mystique and believe that good stuff- does happen their at Notre Dame! And, you add the fact that Lou Holtz appealed to me since my late great grandfather look like a twin brother to Lou, identical with a lisp. Then, you add the movie Rudy which had come out right around the same time… I was sold and on my way from Hawaii to South Bend, just for the beautiful weather. It was the first time I’d seen snow, squirrels, and had been outside of my home state. But, it didn’t take me long before I realized how competitive the environment, high standards, yaddah yaddah yaddah… But that’s my story=-)

Great topic.......my story is this...
January 1989, my brother was in the high school band and my family went to Tempe, AZ to see him play in the Fiesta Bowl parade...he also performed a field show the night before ND vs. West Virginia game. My grandpa was a huge ND fan (I didn't even know it) watching games and listening to games on the radio in the 30's and 40's. He ended up buying me an ND hat with a Fiesta Bowl pin and it just felt right for me to follow ND ever since.

I am now 29, bringing up my two boys as irish faithful and keeping the tradition alive....

I too was born in South Bend, @ St. Joes. Like AZIRISHFAN, we move out here to Az but it's always been ND Football in our house. Our doorbell was the Fight Song for Godsakes! Can you be more ND than that? I tried, and got the ND Leprechaun tattooed on me arm!! Sweet!
Hey AZIRISH, we live pretty close to each other. I pass the Cards' Stadium going home every day. I too will be there for the NC Game this year (next year). The last time they won the title at Sun Devil Stadium, we sent my Mom & Dad to the game. My Sister took my Son to the ND OSU game. Now it's my turn!!!

I was 9 years old in 1989... already big Browns fan (remember how good they were back then if you wonder how a Cali kid could be die hard Browns/ Irish) at this point and got introduced to CFB by Catholic V Convict... at first I liked BOTH teams, but within a year I had blue and gold running in my veins and that has never changed, The 91 Orange Bowl... the loss to BC in 93 and a handful of other hard loses over the years have made me Irish for life...

funny how the great losses effected me more than the great wins the thing is I became a big fan in 89, so I am really a lifelong fan, as long as I have been old enough to know CFB, and haven't seen ND win a title... To show what a fan I am, the first alcohol I bought on my 21st was not a beer at a bar or anything like that it's the middle of May in 01 when ND is showing no sign of winning a title any time soon and I still go buy a vintage Don Perignon bottle of Cham. for $350, it's still waiting for that day when I can crack it...

Go Irish

i'm from ohio so I grew up liking OSU just because. when I was about 13 years old, my uncle brought my dad and I to an ND vs. Air Force game. We absolutely fell in love and derrick mayes instantly became my favorite player as he scored a touchdown at the pylon in the game. I was in awe of everything notre dame was and i never turned back. I'm now 23 and my love for nd grows stronger every year
