I don't know, I remember a mediocre Purdue team somehow blasting a heavily favored Ohio State by 4 TDs. Because of some kid with cancer.

This is literally the biggest game they have hosted in many, many years. The "better" team doesn't always win. My fear is they manufacture just enough plays on offense / ref assistance to get into the 20s and then their defense is certainly the best unit we have seen. So we gotta play clean, you sick around (like the MSU game) and it can easily be a nail biter even if ND is the more talented team. Weird shit happens in CFB and this the first team we have played who is "good enough" to beat us.
I would be absolutely shocked if BYU has a Rondale Moore that can help propel them to victory like 2018 Purdue

First time BYU is hosting a top ten matchup
For both teams? Sounds about right, but confirmed that ND is the highest ranked team they've hosted since the Soviet Union fell.

37% of Bear’s throws are center of the field below 10 yards. It’s 50% if you include to the right. Seems like a rather crazy tendency

Carr had a heavy preference to the right last year that he’s gotten off a good bit. Think Brooks Austin would remark on it based off the way he does his drop

In the old days Lou used to do things to prep the team for certain opponents. Against USC they would play Fight On over loudspeakers to get the boys angry. If it was a cool October week and they were playing in Florida they'd go indoors and crack up the heat. Maybe for BYU we should play the Mormon episode on a loop

Been interacting with BYU fans on X & I have to say.. they give me 2014 ND fan vibes..

They’re out here like.. “I don’t know man.. I just have a good feeling about this one.”

Like me in my chair before the Bama natty like.. “babe.. this D had been good all year.. I think they keep us in this one.”

Then 5 minutes in with the “Oh Fuck” Shane Gillis meme 😂

I think this is an angry Freeman game & they blow the doors off them.

I haven’t been worried about the outcome of a game yet this year and I’m not nervous about this one. My main concerns thus far have been OL play and RB usage and while the first has come along very well, we’ll need to not become one dimensional against a good defensive unit. My hope is that we don’t get married to our three back rotation early, as generating some explosive plays in the run game in the 1H should better open things up downfield for CJ.

This game is only close if MF and Denbrock allow it to be, frankly.

They'll be fresh early and try to run it and hit the play action pass that Wisconsin and Michigan St had success on.. Gotta think they learned something from those two games

Where else can you go to get information like this, ISP, Rivals, One Foot Down, Irish Illustrated? Not if your life depended upon it.

The difficult thing for BYU: game really could mean nothing to them bc they are in if they win the Big 12. Do they risk further injuries to key players with a tough Big 12 slate coming up? Beating ND would obviously be huge
Tough Big 12 slate ? I guess that's true if they're all average at best which is how I perceive them. Very weak conference.

That's quite discouraging to me. They will absolutely put their finger on the scale if they can.
This game is pretty huge for the Big 12's chances to have two playoff teams.

(Side note, but given the money on the line for conferences with CFP bids now, it is kind of absurd that referees are still employed by the conferences. There should just be some national pool. Could the NCAA do that or would they get sued and lose like everything else they try?)

Only way we lose this game is if we beat ourselves. Denbrock also needs to open up the playbook. Stop calling dumb ass plays that end up killing 1-2 drives a game. Also Walton is the only RB I want to see how there getting handoffs.

Notre Dame faces their first “real” test of the season and several people in here start pissing themselves. C’mon.

Denbrock is doing just fine. I don't believe he requires any uninformed advice. Position coaches generally determine rotations during the week based on multiple factors.

Relatively tough. I don’t think there are any great Big 12 teams. But there are 4-5 you can’t just show up for and roll the ball out there

I’ll be watching Denbrock. Side note, can CJ get one snap chest high? Saturday was frustrating to see the consistently poor snaps.

The best defense in the nation is playing against a team starting either a banged up 2nd string RB or their 3 string RB. Are their receivers good enough to have sustained success against the best secondary in college football? Is there QB going to run away from KVA all night for first downs? Bear Bachmeier is everyone's hero this week, but he may wind up having nightmares Saturday night.
