Texas Tech wasn’t good last year either. They played one team worth a fuck OOC and got shutout.

Their D was legitimately talented though. Offense was much worse than our current offense. And the red zone stuff made what should have been 30 point wins into 20 point wins

PEAR has updated, Notre Dame is the #1 team, #2 offense #4 defense

BYU #13, #23 offense, #9 defense. Wisconsin is the next best team they’ve played for comparison: #28 overall, #37 offense #14 defense

PEAR prediction has ND -8.8 with a score of 35.4-26.6

All that said, if BYU scores more than 21 against this defense, I would be shocked
Any idea what goes into PEAR? I looked up the website, but I can't find info on the footall side of things.

IMO 11.5 as a spread is kinda splitting the difference of the possible outcomes. If BYU takes care of the ball, let’s say even just ND is only +1 TO margin, and ND doesn’t score in the red zone I could see a very close low scoring game because of a slow tempo. If ND gets up early, the game script leads to total blowout territory if BYU has to just conventionally drop back often. Not dissimilar to the Wisconsin game.

Without Martin, BYU has to play a bit more aggressive, less ball control.

@ BYU is basically equivalent to @ Tennessee
How so?
(b/c Tennessee's stadium holds 40,000 more people than BYU's and safe to bet a LOT more of them are going to be drunk. But both teams do have a salty defense and a middling offense.)

Good defense, team power rated in the teens.

EDIT: if Glasker is out, I remember Clifton from Kansas State and he went on mission last year. He’s pretty small compared to Glasker is a NFL guy.

Expected that to be the case for Glasker, but a tangible loss to know now regardless. I remember Clifton from Kansas State and he went on mission last year. He’s pretty small compared to Glasker is a NFL guy.

Says “Don’t count out Glasker” I assume that means he’s going to play

On a neutral field, Tennessee would be favored by three.

The difficult thing for BYU: game really could mean nothing to them bc they are in if they win the Big 12. Do they risk further injuries to key players with a tough Big 12 slate coming up? Beating ND would obviously be huge

#4 Defense?

WTF?

Who are 1-3, and what crackhead came up with these rankings?

Their Right Tackle is injured and a true freshman is starting in his place. Traore is going to absolutely abuse this dude.

You have a three headed RB monster to prepare for and one of them is a home run threat. You have Faison, Gilbert and Greathouse coming at you. The Notre Dame offensive line is feasting compared to what they were at Lambeau Field.

Supremely confident. It could be rough at times and they might even be behind at one point in the first half, so fuck off bed wetters, but ND is going to win.

I never thought about it like that. So maybe it's a unique situation where there are a range of possible game outcomes and the spread is somewhere in the middle?

14 points, 455 yards, and 6 turnovers in two games against Texas Tech last year

If Notre Dame is who we think they are, this shouldn’t be particularly close
I don't know, I remember a mediocre Purdue team somehow blasting a heavily favored Ohio State by 4 TDs. Because of some kid with cancer.

This is literally the biggest game they have hosted in many, many years. The "better" team doesn't always win. My fear is they manufacture just enough plays on offense / ref assistance to get into the 20s and then their defense is certainly the best unit we have seen. So we gotta play clean, you sick around (like the MSU game) and it can easily be a nail biter even if ND is the more talented team. Weird shit happens in CFB and this the first team we have played who is "good enough" to beat us.

Forget about worrying about BYU. ND is going to do to them what they do to everyone else. Take their best shot, give up a few big plays because they're human and teams are going to be very aggressive Ultimately wear them down because they don't have the talent and depth Notre Dame has. And I would guess there is a little bit of "these guys were talking shit last you about that stupid bowl game." By the end of the night the discussion will be Notre Dame is one of the favorites to win the National Championship.

One big difference with the OSU/PU game and this one is OSU wasn’t fired up going in.

This is the biggest game to date for our schedule.

I really hope we have some good stuff dialed up to create explosive 20-30 yard pass plays to avoid GL and RZ offense. Hasn't been my favorite thing watching Denbrock call offense in those situations
