All year this offense has felt like they know they could spread the field and throw at will. They’ve been refining everything else for this game. Now they’ve showed they can be finesse and physical. Pick your poison

Line is officially -12.5, -520 at most books. Implied win probability of ~80% considering the juice.

I remember last December when BYU called this team a bunch of pussies for not playing in the bowl.

Let's teach them to keep our team's name out their fucking mouths!

*- I'd demand the Earth to be salted, but their soil is already is.
BYU has not been impressive their last two games. I wonder if they’ve been looking ahead?

Regardless of how good they actually are, (which I am not convinced they are very good) we will undoubtedly get their best effort. We have to come out fast and put them away early. I think they lose their zeal as soon as they realize they aren’t as close as they think they are to the top programs. If we let them hang around they will give us an effort that they could probably not duplicate any other week. We need to snatch their hearts!

Another distinct possibility is that they're not all that good.
I'm kinda torn on this because the metrics basically say they're extremely solid. Legit Top 20 team, borderline top 10, and ND should only be a small favorite on the road.

With that being said:
1. Their score lines have been rough because they don't really finish drives well. Their yardage/efficiency numbers are good.

2. The way they play offense is overly dependent on "Bear" being a hero. They are a completely one dimensional team.

3. Vegas thinks that BYU is substantially worse than their metrics which is why they keep covering and why the betting line this game is higher than it really should be for a top 10 matchup.

Hoping Vegas is correct and BYU just simply isn't that good, and in that case ND defense should shut them down. Hold them below 20 and hard to see ND losing.

Not the best recipe for success against this ND team. They’ll let you dip and dunk all day long and then cut your head off in the red zone

I can’t help but to look back at their two matchups against TTU where they scored a combined 14 points. The talent gap was massive in those games, it should be even more apparent in this one.

14 points, 455 yards, and 6 turnovers in two games against Texas Tech last year

If Notre Dame is who we think they are, this shouldn’t be particularly close

So what’s up with the injuries? I’m pretty sure Moore will be back. KVA had a huge wrap, didn’t look promising. And what’s the deal with Johnson and Onye?

This is what I'm thinking.

BYU is solid and well-coached enough to consistently beat most Big 12 teams. They're not bad. But I watched those Texas Tech games last year - especially the Big 12 title game - and saw a team that couldn't really move the ball against a good defense. And I would wager our defense is better than Texas Tech's was last year. Then there's our offense for them to contend with.

They could win, sure. Stranger things have happened. Maybe the altitude and crowd are factors. But if we avoid turnovers and play fundamentally sound defense, we'll keep them under 20 points, and I just don't see how they keep us under 20.

BYU seems bigger than most teams in 12, so they can bully them. They're not bullying ND - they're just as big and far more athletic.

PEAR has updated, Notre Dame is the #1 team, #2 offense #4 defense

BYU #13, #23 offense, #9 defense. Wisconsin is the next best team they’ve played for comparison: #28 overall, #37 offense #14 defense

PEAR prediction has ND -8.8 with a score of 35.4-26.6

All that said, if BYU scores more than 21 against this defense, I would be shocked

Both Texas Tech games last season above

- First game in Lubbock both offenses were completely shutdown. BYU turned it over 3 times though.

- 2nd time around BYU still did nothing on offense. Down to down TTU still struggled on offense, but hit some explosives this time around, only to struggle in the red zone. BYU again, turned it over 4 times.
