With some of the angst around the TE depth chart, I'd love to see Black used as an inline guy there Fr year. Too talented to redshirt, especially if ND only has him for 3-4 like Alt.

Normally I'm all for the oline kids using a redshirt year to grow/adapt, but this one is on the Alt trajectory.

I am fine with redshirting guys who really need a year to be ready. Everyone else i want on the 4 year track. Notre Dame recruiting should be far too well to be planning on many guys being in South Bend for five years.

That's the thing too, most OL are not ready to play their freshman year. You normally have to have some serious holes in previous recruiting years for a freshman OL to start, and/or they have to be a freakish talent to beat out upperclassmen. The jump from high school to college is big for linemen, harder than most other position groups. Alt was able to do it because he was an amazing worker with pedigree, and we had some serious holes in development and recruiting in the years prior to 2021 because of Long and Quinn. Fisher was also starting as a true freshman that year because of the lack of OL talent, but he got hurt first game.

It really is all here. Everything is on the table for this guy to get better and better. Massive, athletic, skilled. Awesome.

Nobody knows and yes, he’s the best lineman on the team.
How tho? Dis dude last game played was in '24. How is he the best still? I love Jags. But I can't see your point. Was CJ good? B4 his injury? Yes. But it's been 2 yrs. ND has recruited very well along the O-Line. ND has players. Guys. Now don't get me wrong. If Jags didn't have that tragic injury. Yes. He's the guy. But to say at this point. That he's the best. Nah. Can't agree with that take. No sah.

Knapp is excellent, but a healthy Jagusah is on another level. If you don’t believe me, just watch him vs Penn St and Ohio St after not playing all season. He was dominant.
If an OLman who hasn’t played a game since 2024 is our best lineman, then ND recruiting and development has truly failed.

Nope. It just means Jagusah is really, really good. He’s the 2nd best lineman (Nelson) of this century. He is absolutely dominant.

Go back and isolate Jags vs Penn St and Ohio St. He was DOMINANT!
