From what I have seen he is doing a great job on the line in the running game as well.

He’d be the most talented LT on the roster. Him or Guerby. Knapp and Jagusah would be better off at guard.
He’s 282. No chance he starts on this team unless there are some transfers. Knapp, Wagner, Jagusah, Lambert all battling for those 2 tackle positions.

Normally, I'd agree with you and tell you another Joe Alt isn't walking thru the door. Joe was what, 260-270 as a senior in hs and 305 as a freshman? Is there ever was a comp...

This kid will come in at a svelte 295 after a Canadian Christmas dinner and have 9 months in the program. He'll be ready if his number is called.

Really looking forward to this '25 oline.

Well I’m not saying he’d start. But I do believe he’s the best LT on the roster the moment he steps on campus. Guerby’s the only actual LT they have this season.

Why isn’t he starting yet? Knapp hasn’t been great.

He wasn't an EE and Knapp picked it up the offense very quick to go along with very good footwork with a nasty disposition. His pass pro is something to be desired at this point but his run blocking has been quite good. IMO Knapp is without question an interior linemen so considering that as well as being a true freshman that's a little undersized, who was thrown into the deep end has made the Online decent all things considered.

As we've seen this year Rudolph isn't afraid to bench a starters from the previous season if there are better options. I personally want to see the biggest, nastiest and most athletic OL which is why long term I would love to see Knapp eventually become the Center. Jagusah and Absher as massive athletic road grading monsters at Guard.

That said I don't think they will mess with Wagner and just keep him at RT. But LT is going to have 4 or 5 guys vying for the spot. Knapp is going to have the most experience but is better suited to play inside but I believe he will get a fair shake to hold onto the job he has this season as will Jagusah. Absher and Guerby will get there shot as will Will Black will as well.

Embarrassment of riches on OL. Rudolph has been the real deal and best possible outcome post Hiestand. Maybe he can start recruiting some WRs as well, although we might have to designate Will Black as an ATH with this new film of him toting the rock surfacing

I thought the staff preferred Lambert at RT and have no plans to move him?
I believe that's correct but Wagner is at RT now Lambert hasn't beat him out this season so I put him with many that could compete for LT position that is much more likely to be open for the taking. Ultimately I think Lambert is Wagner's replacement at RT when he moves onto the NFL.

Will Black may be the fastest and most athletic OT that we've seen at ND and that's saying something.

While I believe Jagusah can be a great OT, I think he could be a special OG but that said I think he's most likely next seasons starting LT. That's far from a given though as Knapp is going to have the most experience actually playing LT at this level. Will Black is a special athlete and talent who IMO is a natural OT whereas I think Jagusah is a talent that can play at a high level at OT but is actually better suited to play OG.

True frosh starter?
Realizing that you made this post 2 months ago but as someone who used to play football against Choate, going from bullying kids on the line of New England prep school football to D-1 college would be a massive leap. He may have all the tools but I'd really like to see him get a year in of working with people who can push back in practice before he anchors our o line.

May actually be the best recruit in this class nationally. On3’s early evaluation is aging like fine wine. Absolutely owning kids on NBC

We've been spoiled with high-level tackles over the years. After missing that this year, it'll be nice to have another guy who can completely neutralize elite edge rushers

Will it surprise anyone if he becomes Alt 2.0? Doesn't have the pedigree, but damn if there aren't all of the elite tools in that toolbox.

247 looks to have again changed their 5-star threshold so as to prevent him from being a 5-star from either their ratings or their composite.

Yeah I didn’t get that when I saw it yesterday. The whole shtick with 5 stars is they are projected first round picks. 32 of them. To not have the composite go to 32 for 5 star status makes no sense

I looked back at the last 5-6 years of the composite player rankings. Everyone with a composite score of 0.9833 and higher is a 5-star. Black is a 0.9825.

I've said it before, I really don't care that much about the rankings given their subjectivity and I would love to see ND get a natty with a bunch of 4 & 3 star kids. People will take notice of the player development.

I cannot fathom how any adult would take the opinion of somebody who id paid to sell clicks remotely seriously. So because you operate a website makes you an expert on football talent? Ratings have always been garbage and nothing but clickbait.

If you think the NFL teams have staffs of 10 scouts, and college has 5. For real easy averages. That’s 10x32 =320 and 5x68 =340 for power 4+ND. So these website guys aren’t in the top 660 of the business of evaluating talent. And in all likelihood, not in the top 1000.

Black is 4, 20, 37, and 91 on espn. Do we know if they update their rankings again?
